I got this solar light because I want to have more lighting in my backyard at night due to wild animals becoming more common in my neighborhood. One important feature I was looking for was motion sensing so that hopefully I could tell if a critter was in the backyard before I let my dogs out at night when its dark. The motion sensor on this light seems to be somewhat irregular in what triggers it, and it looks like you have to be quite close to trigger it at all. It didnt seem to be regularly triggered by my dogs running past either. I mounted it on an 8ft pole I already had and got an umbrella stand base that I could modify from wayfair. I just put it up yesterday and will play with location and orientation. But so far, the jury is still out. Brought this to replace lamp post we had over ten years that was in a planter they recommend not using the easy mount made for single heads but i did any ways install was easy and the lamp stayed upright with the 50 plus mile an hour winds our soil is clay after 6 inches down so it anchored well and stays lit all night long on soft white even thru the recent snow storms we had after things had thawed out.. Really happy with my purchase of this solar lantern. I love that you can choose from 3 light settings. I have mine on warm light. The two others are cool white and bright white. This gives off a nice glow at the end of my driveway at night. If you are looking for an overly bright illuminating light, I don't think this is for you.
