I was initially skeptical…will I like, will I not and if not how much will it cost me to ship back But I can tell you this unit is indeed a KEEPER! Lots of work to put together (took me 3 days) but the end result is well worth it. Perfect color and size. We are very satisfied with the Farmhouse Murphy Bed. The actual product is well represented online, including the color. It took my husband about 12 hours to assemble by himself. It would go a bit faster with a second person. There were a lot of pieces and he did follow the instructions which were well written. The only reason 4 vs 5 stars due to the following: assembly time (it still would take a while for 2 people to assemble) and the cabinet would look better with screw caps giving it a finished look. No one has slept on it yet, but assume it will be fairly comfortable for guests. We would have gone with a thicker mattress but followed the guidelines to make sure the cabinet would close. The slats seem to support the mattress. We hope the mattress does not slide around too much once someone tries to sleep on it. The bed does have to be weighted down to keep it from rising off the floor if no one is on the bed. See photos showing foot of bed not weighted down and weighted down with ankle weights. We plan to place a side table to offer a night stand. The small shelf looks a bit flimsy, so we will be cautious. I am not very tall and was able to open and close with ease. It works exactly how we expected it to. It does take quite a bit of time to set up. It has a lot of moving parts. However, it works very well stores into it extremely small space and the mattress is pretty comfortable. We bought a mattress topper for it and it will be perfect for our spare bedroom. The design is pretty cool. It’s only about 4 feet tall so it does look like a dresser in my studio. Having the charging station is pretty great, I wish that it had power on both sides, and I also wish that the plug was longer and flat because it forces me to push the unit away from the wall, which is not ideal on the small space but it does work and we ran and extension cord to make sure it can all work. Overall, for the sale price, this is an excellent piece and we hope to get a lot of use out of it! One last thing, like most inexpensive furniture, it’s not going to move houses well. It’s a great space-saving solution that also looks attractive and blends nicely into the room. Assembly took about 6 hours with one person, even though the instructions recommend two people. That said, the directions were straightforward and easy to follow. Most of the pre-drilled holes were properly aligned, which made the process smoother than expected. There was some minor cosmetic damage on one panel and a small gap between panels, as shown in the photos, but both are in areas that aren’t very visible, so it’s not a major concern. While I haven’t fully tested the mattress yet, it seems like it will hold up well for occasional guest use. Comes in 4 boxes, received 2 on one day the other 2 the next day. Really nice set, pretty happy with it. Couple of extras that we are doing to it, the brackets to hold the frame to the wall can be seen when bed is down just going to paint them white to make it less noticeable. The barrel of the hinge for the shelf can be seen when the bed is in the up postion. Definitely need to support the bed frame to the wall and into the studds a must. This unit perfectly utilized a tiny 8x10 “bedroom” in my 126-year-old house. I use it as a multi-purpose guest room (for one) and craftoffice area. It’s super resourceful and space-saving which I love and wouldn’t have otherwise conceived would be possible given how tiny the room is. That being said It’s a great deal for what you get, but what you get is a fully occupied weekend for AT LEAST two people, and that’s if you’re familiar with assembling furniture, which I am. This was hands-down the most tedious and time-consuming piece I’ve ever assembled—however, I expected that to be the case and prepared myself for it. I would advise separating all the parts by step (hardware especially) beforehand to prevent stupid mistakes like using screws on step 37 that were meant to be used on step 13. Every detail matters. I am single but I can see how this project could potentially end in divorce. All in all, it’s a great piece for the money—just prepare yourself for not just hours, but DAYS of labor. Highly recommend for the patient DIY folks. The instructions aren’t great but they rarely are. Fortunately there are QR codes on each step which link to videos showing the guys in the factory assembling it. I was so skeptical about purchasing this bed because of the price point. It was a really good price. And I was worried that it was going to be cheaply made or pieces broken when we got it, or it wouldn’t fit together the way it’s supposed to. It took my Handyman about eight hours to put it together.
