Good buy for the price. Nice fabric - soft, easy to clean and vacuum. It seems wider than 40". Easily seats 2 people or 1 person and 4 dogs! It is firmer than I like - am hoping the seat cushion will soften up a bit (I've had it for 4 days). There appears to be some kind of a brace or support running down the middle of the seat that causes you to slip off to the side a bit unless you're centered on it when sitting or reclining. 1010 for a small apartment couch! I absolutely love this couch! The color is exactly what I was hoping for, and the storage is a game changer. The pull-out is so easy to use and manage. Be prepared for 2 of the 3 boxes to be very heavy (around 100 to 110 lbs each). I did need help getting them inside my apartment because they were large and bulky. Once inside, assembly was doable with one person, you just need a little muscle to get everything into place. The couch feels very sturdy, the back cushions are super plush, and the bottom cushions just need a little time to break in.
