The advent of electricity brought forward a new art form table lamps with intricately reverse-painted shades. Verre Eglumise is the art of reverse hand painting whereas the artist, with the use of very fine brushes, paints with their hand actually inside the translucent glass shade. What a wonder to be able to create an artistic forest scene with such depth of field, hand painted on both sides: the front picture is of trees and bushes, while the back depicts a scene with rocks and a flowing river. Best appreciated when used as an accent light, displaying the artist's depiction to the best advantage while the sunset and sky provide a soft and dreamy ambiance. A flowing metal base with acanthus leaf design details finished in faux antique brass rises to the hand-painted bell-shaped shade popularized in the 1890s and is crowned with a metal finial. Once lit the artist's canvas of glass conjures up a magical world.

Absolutely gorgeous! I’m really pleased with this lamp. It arrived within a few days of ordering and was extremely well packed. There is a small bit of assembly that is easily done, however, I did have a problem screwing the piece into the base. Even though it was tightened down completely it was still a bit wobbly because the metal was not flat. I resolved the situation by using a black rubber washer. I was able to snug it up and you can’t notice the rubber washer. The teal blue color is absolutely beautiful. Truly I would have given this lamp 5 stars except for the minor issue I described. Very pretty lamp. I purchased it for my office which is painted a navy blue and the colors work perfectly. The photo of the lamp on Wayfair's page doesn't really do a good job of showing it's colors. In the photo it is difficult to tell what the darker color is in the shade - when the lamp is off this color appears to be cobalt blue, but with the lamp on, it is purple. The main body of the shade looks like a mix of green, blue, and amber, but when turned on amber is the primary color and the other colors appear as soft streaks. While the lamp is pretty while it is turned off, it is very pretty turned on. I also like the mahogany bronze color of the base. One thing to note, the bulb information and instruction sheet on Wayfair's page is incorrect, although I see the same information on other pages as well so I don't think it is likely Wayfair's fault. The web page states that a 40W candle type bulb should be used, but the sticker on the lamp says to use a Type A bulb with maximum of 60 Watts. The instruction sheet reflects similar information, but there is no thumb screw for the shade and the bulb base is not a narrow candle type bulb. One of Tiffany Studio's most beloved dragonfly design; modeled after the hanging head dragonfly. Diving dragonflies with glowing Scarlet jeweled eyes and delicate metal filigree wings circle over hand cut and copper foiled pieces of Pond Green art glass. A Sunset Sky band circles the bottom of the stained glass shade. A Pond Green glass mosaic inlay spirals down the hand finished Mahogany Bronze base that is accented with a circle of cast metal dragonflies.

Beautiful! A little smaller than expected, but still meets my need. The bulb is not standard size(standard base but smaller size), so need the get type A bulb. Packing and Delivery service was very good!. Anonymous. Thu Feb 12 2026
