This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. Beautiful bed! We ordered the queen size Ivory Canvas material and couldn't be happier. We vacillated a lot of what fabric to choose (canvas vs. boucle, ivory vs. cream). The boucle seemed too "fuzzy" and we didn't want a canvas material that felt "waxy" or like a canvas sneaker. The material on THIS bed is wonderful! I love the bed, I have no complaints the quality is really nice. I was able to carry and assemble this without assistance so if you wanted to assemble on your own it is possible.
