We purchased and installed this range hood, ZLINE 36" Island Range Hood GL14i-36, about 22 months ago. We'd looked at MANY, so many, range hoods before making our decision to purchase this Z-Line model. We'd looked at many different units from many different manufacturers in many different price ranges in many different, but similar styles. We wanted an elegant look, excellent function (who cares how good it looks if it doesn't work - it has to do its job first and foremost) and easy cleaning. Additionally, I'm tall at 6' 4" so mounting it high enough so that the bottom edge would be above my sight line was an important feature to me, so that I could look at someone on the other side of the island without stooping. Therefore, the ability to mount this up to 36" above the stove top was also an important factor. Fortunately, there was a Range Hood Store near us, so we were able to go there and see their products (if you're not as lucky as we were to be nearby a store, know that everything we saw in the store was high quality and looked like the online pictures). We'd been concerned because of their excellent, very competitive prices that their products might be "cheap" in quality, look or construction WE FOUND OUT THOSE WORRIES WERE UNFOUNDED, so you can order online with confidence even if you have no nearby store to visit in person. Additionally, my wife worried that keeping it clean would be an issue, partly because of the glass portion of this hood. Well, it's pretty darn easy to keep clean and the dishwasher safe filter is nice too. Some people's reviews say that it is loud when in use . . . and, when it's on the highest setting, 4, it is kind of loud, BUT we've found it to be MUCH QUIETER than those BRAND X units in use by some of our friends over their islands. Further, our very quiet dishwasher is certainly louder than this hood, it's just not at ear height like our range hood, which I think may make seem folks think it's louder than it is. One last thing is the fact that there's a set of control buttons on each side of unit and I remember thinking, "There's no need for the duplicate set of buttons, I'll only use the ones on the same side as the stove top control knobs." But, now I cannot tell you just how handy it is to have the duplicate set of controls as we use them far more often than I would have ever thought. So, after almost 2 years we're still happy and we wanted to write this review, so you know you can order with confidence.

I decided on the 36 In. Wall Mount Range Hood In Black Stainless Steel (Bsken-36) to go above my 30 in range (SO GLAD I GOT THE WIDER HOOD). The hood itself is perfect for the design of my clean line kitchen. It is not too showy 9as to take away from my soapstone counter) and also not your typical boring range hood. I love that the led lights have a dim option and that they are movable! Mandy with TheRangeHoodStore customer service was very patient and helpful in my quest to find a hood to fit with my soffit (only 74 inches of clearance from the ground). After much trial and error, we figured out the short kit addition would be the only way to go. That said, this model does not have matching molding and it turns out my soffit was not built square. My contractor and I will have to do some creative problem solving to hide this. Seems someone along this whole process would have considered that? Anyway, I selected a ZLINE hood due to the lifetime motor warranty. I was shipped 3 damaged or cosmetically challenged hoods.....and finally decided to keep the 3rd for a discount as I was tired of trips to fedex. There seems to be a need for better quality control and better communication with staff as to what would be necessary to install (we needed more clearance than what was mentioned). Also, I was not happy that the short kit cost me extra money and that I was not able to substitute it for the regular 16 inch chimney included. Now I have a $50 chimney section that will be unused. Seems so wasteful. The kitchen is not finished yet but I wanted to post a review because pictures of real life are so much for helpful when making decisions. Its a decent low noise level at 1, but anything above that and it would be hard to hold a conversation close to the stove. I dont mind, as the hood has a purpose to serve!

First of all, have to acknowledge Z Line's OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Truly, something that is lost in todays business world, they excel in customer service. Upon opening and inspecting the product, one of the baffle filters was missing the release knob. I called to inform them, Z Line was willing to send entirely new filters, which I declined, just needed the knob...it was sent out and received within 3 days! After just installing the hood last week, after sitting for several weeks as I've been too busy to install, I also just realized a grease cup/trap was not included. The build quality of the product is certainly up to par, and everything seems well built, including the design of the motor and chimney. Some people have commented on the lack of quality of the stainless steel, not sure what the problem is there, it is thin stainless and somewhat flimsy, but you don't need heavy gauge steel for such a product, it would be too heavy. I do feel there should be more support in the corners of the chimney and some better support for rigidity, maybe this is where heavier stainless would be beneficial. Here's the issue with the hood, it is LOUD!!! Level 1/2 sound more like med/high, and 3/4 are just down right borderline noise pollution. And level 4 literally sounds like a semi truck in our upstairs master bedroom. It's quite strange, there is no rattling of any metal or serious vibration, but more of a rolling thunder at this highest setting. And forget about having a conversation close to the hood. All this said, it does the job...it sucks up the humidity and smoke, does not totally alleviate all aromas, but immensely better than the replaced 20 year old cabinet mount hood we had. Bottom line, you get what you pay for in my experience in life. This was a great deal for $$$, it's a beautiful exterior design, and it does the job. I would not be happy at all if it were twice the price, and I'm certainly curious if their more expensive and higher CFM units have the same issue with noise. Oh yes, and the button functions are not super user friendly. You have to hit a power button, then the desired speed you want, should just be able to hit the speed and thats it, I don't understand this design at all. I'm quite torn on this company, been looking at their ranges and want to purchase one by this summer, beautiful and simple commercial design, but now I'm concerned about the quality that they would perform. I'm a former 4 star fine dining sous chef, I know good products, so I'm maybe a bit more critical than the average home cook. If you are looking for quiet exhaust, this is likely not the hood for you. I'm really disappointed to be so brutally honest, wish I had a better review for their product, because with such amazing customer service, they have put some time in to building this brand the right way. So Z Line, if you are listening...love what you guys are doing and the price point, but make it even better, even if you have to increase the price.

Loved this product but the chimney was hard to install around the flexible exhaust hose. I wish it had come with the outside exhaust discharge weather cover. It would be nice to have an installation video that could be viewed. The written instructions were a little vague. Still, the finished product was nice. We tested it out and it has 3 fan speeds and plenty of light. The filters are top rack dishwasher safe which will make it easy to clean. I did not check to see if the lights could be replaced when they are needed. It looks very nice in my camp house kitchen!

It was easy to install ...I installed in new construction situation. I installed with duct work leading outside. Do not use the flap they include because it rattles and it's amplified in the ducts. I removed mine completely because the outside flat has one. Also, when you exterior duct this appliance they provide a piece to block off the inside circulation (see the top of the hood vents. Well, that piece doesn't completely cut it off. I had to use duct tape to stop it ...design flaw I believe. Also, they tell you to use the L & R brackets but not to firmly secure them ...do it because if you don't the hood vibrates on high and you'll take it down and then completely secure the screws. Plus, if you don't there is a gab between the hood and the cabinet (I personally didn't like that either). The other thing is the left side screen captures all the air circulation. The right side acts like a dummy piece ...no air gets in that side at all. I do like the style. I do like the design. I love the buttons. I love the lights on 2 level brightness. It looks very professional and the air is powerful on high. I'd recommend this item.

To start, after I fixed my issues below I really like this product. Its a good value and performs nice after the following fixes were used. I would give 5-stars if I didn't have to discover these fixes myself. Support did come out to switch my motor but it didn't solve my problem after two weeks of use noise came back. The Problems I have experienced with this product: 1. Loud vibrations between hood vent and cabinets 2. Loud clicking noise from fan running (fan hits its own bracket on sides) The Fix: 1. Go to the hardware store and get a package of foam liner with adhesive on one side. Its very inexpensive. It is usually used to insulate between attic stairs and the ceiling. Place it between hood and the cabinets. This stops vibration between cabinets and hood meaning no more noise. Fixed. 2. Take a socket wrench and holding fan blade in place loosen nut. Drop the fan blade slightly lower then previously installed. Even 2-3mm can fix problem.Tighten nut keeping blade in lower position on the rod the nut holds onto. After tightening turn on fan to low. If no more clicking is present place back grease guard into place and try low setting again. This is to make sure fan is not hitting the grease guard at all. If clicking or hitting still try adjusting the fan and rinse and repeat. Why this fixes the clicking: The bracket holding the fan in gets slightly smaller up top and when the fan spins it has a slight give and raises itself slightly higher as it spins on the rod allowing the side of the fan to hit the bracket.

And it only worked for the first few years of our then newly built home. We continued without the exhaust for the next 16 years, avoiding all fried foods(don’t ask about the times we had to open windows and frantically wave towels at our smoke detectors). With our recent upgrade we wanted to avoid a lot of drywall work and thought a ductless range hood would be better than no exhaust at all, especially when our teenaged cooks burn things. To try it out I made fried okra for my mom in the first week. OMGoodness!!! It works great! The house didn’t smell like grease all night long. The carbon filter really did the job. My only suggestion to future buyers it to remove the blue protective film before you install it. The process of removing all of the residual film from the seams was painstakingly difficult and time consuming. I understand it’s value in shipping and removing the packaging, but it would have been much easier to be careful not to scratch durning installation and to wipe off fingerprints after it’s installed, than it was standing on my brand new countertops and cooktop, breaking fingernails just trying to get that stuff off. Surely they can come up with something better. Oh, did I mention that it was beautiful ?

I Purchased the 30” 860 CFM four speed Cavaliere range hood. I Received it in great shape and on time. I wanted the larger CFM rating hoping I could use it in a lower speed to minimize noise. I had to install the vent pipe and tile the back splash before I could install the hood which was fairly easy once the other tasks were completed. I also fabricated a crown molding to fit the chimney dimensions (pics included) since this was not offered by the manufacturer. Overall, I am very happy with the hood so far, it looks great, the airflow is sufficient and it is not as noisy as I thought it would be even on high speed. It’s easy to operate and the halogen lights are in the front which provides a nice warm light onto the cooking area.

I did a lot of research on range hoods. The big box retail stores have brands that don't have a CFM that can clear actual cooking. 400 CFM isn't going to do the job folks. Maybe if you're boiling water out of a 8 inch frying pan, but I'm thinking you're likely not doing that. Check online and you'll find Cavaliere is well reviewed. As for my review, this thing really sucks - in a great way! With 2 young children, something on the stove is bound to burn while taking care of them. This hood has 6 different speeds. We usually have it on 2, but if something is burning to a pan, then set it to 5 or 6 and you avoid the smoke detectors from going off. The fact that you likely just need this on 2 and it clears most of the cooking vapor, you enjoy a quieter motor than the box store 400 CFM models that you have to put on the highest setting where you can't hear a thing and still can't clear the vapor. This is why this model is great, lower setting and still takes care of business and is decently quiet. It looks really good in the kitchen as well. I recommend this to anyone picking up a hood because the value is so good as well.

Worth every cent! When we moved into our new home we had a stove from the 1970's, and above it was one of those massive mounted microwaves. There was supposed to be a vent system built into the microwave but we couldn't get it to work for anything and we didn't want a microwave there anyway. We replaced the stove, pulled out the microwave and started hunting for a good vent. After a few weeks of online research this is what we settled on and we couldn't be happier! It looks nice, and does the job very well. A few things I will say - It is a bit loud. I feel this is to be expected for what it is. It plays little tunes when you turn it on and off. Our new washer and dryer does the same. I wonder if we can change the tune because it is slightly annoying sometimes. Lastly it comes with bulbs that are tinted blue. I'm not fond of them. Hopefully when they need to be replaced I can find some clear bulbs as I would be much happier. This is a very solid unit and an excellent deal for the price. I looked and looked and don't think you'll find a better deal than this as I sure couldn't. Plus free shipping! Such a great deal! I use this every single day. Thank you Wayfair!

This is a great range hood, and Wayfair was the only one willing actually ship it to me in Hawaii (Kudos Wayfair! Kudos!!) @mazon, Over$tock, even @KDY wouldn't ship it! Hats off to Wayfair for stepping up, and only charging me $69 to ship it in 3 days to me! That came to a total that was still cheaper than anyone else that wouldn't bother sending it. Amazon took my money, then refunded it because they refused to send it. And for the record, it arrived with absolutely NO issues at all. Now, anyone with half a brain should be able to install this product. That said, if you are NOT handy, DO NOT BUY THIS! I was able to hang this in all of 20 minutes. I don't care what other reviewers said about this hood, if you know the difference between a Phillps head and Flat head screwdriver, you can install this hood! Only reason for a four star review (and not five) is it's a little louder than expected (still reasonably quiet though) and there were two screws with rubber "bumpers" that's had no listed purpose. But I didn't need them, I guess... Still a terrific value and an excellent hood!
