Wanted to upgrade our over the stove microwave and found this LG one. I love the slide out vent option. It really does get rid of steam and oil smoke from the front burners. It will help when we change to a gas range and oven. Other reviews stated issues with the side out function. I see no issues with the durability. Just don’t lean on it or put things on it. Power is amazing and food cooks quickly and evenly. Some others disliked that the screen goes blank until you open the door. I don’t notice this as an issue. You have to open the door to put your food in first. The only time it requires opening is to use the timer function. We are very impressed with the look, features, quality and price. I had a ge microwave already. This was basically the newest version. Be careful. The mount bracket is a little different and the top screws are in a different spot. It came with nice paper templates that showed you exactly where to mount and drill. Me and a friend installed it in 45 minutes. Works great. No fluff solid ge appliance. I’m happy. James. It is a very nice piece of equipment, with just a few comments. First, the microwave function is very quiet, a plus. However, the internal vent fan is very loud. More to the point, while air blows out the top vent, there is very little flow into the two-under vent portals, not very efficient removing smoke and odors. The control and number pad is very difficult to read in normal light. Either the text needs to stand out more, or ideally it would be better if illuminated. I've had my new microwave for three weeks. So far I love it. Easy to use. Food is heated as I needed. Used the potato button yesterday and it was great. This is my second GE microwave. My first just died one day after 14 years. My appliance company recommended this model and it was on sale, so even better. I recommend dealing with a local appliance store as they kept records my previous purchases and knew what would fit in my kitchen. Their prices were better than the big box stores.
