I am very happy with this hood. The quality of build seems solid, installation instructions were very clear, and it I think it looks great. It takes some planning and work to get it installed. You have to make sure your ceiling joists and ductwork is going the right direction or be prepared to do some modifications. I have a soffit and had to take down a bunch of drywall to modify the framing, run the 14/3 romex for the light/fan and modify the ducting. Then I replaced the drywall, taped, texture, paint and installed the hood. Fortunately it all came together nicely. I was able to held the hood in place while my wife drive the screws into the framing. I think it will be worth it in the end because the hood won’t be blocking the view in front of our cooktop.. Amazing range hood! Not easy to install, we actually still were sweating trying to get it secured in with four people involved. The instructions say at least two people, but I would get more people helping! It understandably took us a long time, but it is very sturdy. We have just short of 8 ft ceilings, and wanted it about 30” over the stovetop, so we also had to cut the two covers for the top portion. Get a metal cutting wheel and grinder, it was definitely not a job for someone who doesn’t have experience doing that, but you could cut it a different way if needed. Not necessary to alter like that though for taller ceilings, or lower placements. Installation aside, this range hood works beautifully and is strong even on its lowest setting. The lights are not blinding, and it’s nice having just buttons for control on both sides. Absolutely would recommend, for anyone who has the right help to install! Great upgrade to my older unit , lots more power and suction on fan , better led lighting, very well made unit, 3 different ways to control unit , wage hind in front of sensors to turn on fan and change speeds , use buttons on front of either side of unit or use the remote control. Well I have it out of the box the reason for this purchase was I have tall ceilings and I needed a exhaust fan that I didn’t have to figure out how to get additional pieces or have to build down from the ceiling to close the gap. This fan assembly fit that bill it’s also a rental property and so I didn’t want a glass unit even though I have one like that and like it a lot this unit is more “renter friendly” and safe no ones going to break it.. The hood looks nice and works great and I love that the controls are located on both sides of the hood. When the hood first arrived I pulled everything out to check for dents and didn’t see any but once we went to install it a long time after there was a dent that can really only be noticed at the right angle. After waiting months to have my kitchen back I didn’t want tot have to take it down and wait for a new one so I’m living with a dented hood. This is an awesome Z-Line hood unit especially at the Wayfair purchase price. The first one I received had a metal rubbing of a fan blade, reached out to Z-line, sent a video explaining the situation. I was advised a new replacement was already on its way, in a blink of an eye. NO fuss at all. Not having an actual island in my kitchen, I installed it above my Bertazonni stove, away from the wall. The placement made the corner look bigger, very airy, and receive many compliments. I have seen many island hoods but this one actually has the controls on both sides of the unit, making it unique. The 4 lights pivot, allowing light to be were most needed. The motor is very powerful, and does the job it's intended to do. I ordered the matching crown molding for a finished professional look.
