I really liked the thought of using this product. I was not able to use it due to fear of damage of my house if used because of possible high winds and fan being too close to edges. It says it is resistant, but do not know if rod will move too much during wind events causing damage. Description was not clear enough to know. Otherwise, it was the best option I found. It was easy to put together (took less than 20 minutes), but I would like to note that the blades read “this side up” but should be flipped while installing since you install them on the bottom… I had completely assembled the fan before I even noticed, so I hope that helps. This fan works very well for our space. It functions as described with the remote provided (no AAA batteries included!) The light is adequate in brightness and the overall appearance of the fan is modern and the three blade adds a minimalistic element. It does not push tons of air down, so if your installation allows for use of the long extension so it sits lower, then you may want to do that; wish we had done. We are experienced amateur fan installers (probably 20 over the years) and we installed 2 others just last month, but this one was a bit tricky (totally do-able for those who have experience, but may be frustrating for others.) Notice in the third photo that the holes do not line up and therefore some manual adjustments had to be made. It was also a bit confusing the way (photo 4) the housing is all one piece, but the instructions (step 11) illustrate them separately. It was a true challenge to get this installed with the rubber fully flush on the surface. We had to buy longer screws that those provided, which would not catch, let alone hold. Once installed, the fan is really attractive and works as advertised. It is fully plastic, but that makes sense for outdoors, especially here in H.O.T. Texas. We are considering purchasing another one for the other side because even though we received the product through a promotion, we believe that at the current price, it holds sufficient value.
