We had to cut the tension rod at the top to get it to fit our non-standard ceiling height, and we added extra brackets because our cats are chonky but the rest of the assembly was easy and forgiving. I like its small footprint. Even though it says the platforms are only good for cats up to 10lbs, my big boy is sitting on one of the smaller ones with no problem, pleased to have a high perch to intimidate the squirrels..
