Read some of the comments about the base being unstable. I mitigated this by applying some duct tape to help keep the pieces together (they are already held together as they are not completely cut in half -- the duct tape just helps secure it). I did a lot of researchbefore selecting this product. It was worth it! My 2 cats each have the side that they love to scratch. One likes to lay down between the two slanted sides.
