Critical Review + Assembly Details
Ashley from Littleton, CO – Verified Buyer
FINISHED PRODUCT: (1) Both colors have a **fake woodgrain** that is not visible in the photo. It's tasteful and I like it better than if it were solid formica-looking. (2) What I DO NOT like are the almost half inch holes that were required to assemble the angles (pre-drilled). They provide stickers that match the surface (woodgrain on the stickers and all) so its not too noticeable, and its expected from a self-assembly piece, but it's not thrilling. (3) Some of the pieces are a hair off - more than in the picture above, so it looks less like a solid piece of wood than the photo. Its subtle and isn't bothering me for the price of this. I'm overall happy with the way this looks in our small apartment. ASSEMBLY DIFFICULTY: Medium. The box was so heavy I couldn't move it alone. Good instructions with clear 3d descriptive drawings. I strongly suggest laying out all the numbers in order before you start. Piece #6 looks like piece #9 and piece #14 looked liked piece #17. Luckily, I realized when I had three #6 that something was off. ASSEMBLY TIME: 2 hours and 20 minutes (with a power drill and extra careful attention to detail to get it right the first time.) I estimate that assembly with a hand screwdriver would take 4.5 hours. Ikea sells power drills for 25 bucks. I strongly encourage you to use one on this beast. FINISHED ASSEMBLY: The two ends are 1/16th of an inch off, which is more noticeable when using it horizontally as those ends are then exposed. (Its visible in the picture but more obvious in person.)

I needed a long, narrow shelving unit to store books and other items for my bedroom. I bought the black model and put it on it's side. I wanted something that wouldn't take up all of the wall space. This unit was perfect. It took a bit of time to put together and you'll need a good-size space because there are lots of pieces. The directions are easy to follow and I didn't need help from my husband (except to move it in place). My only complaint is that the stickers you get to cover the bolt holes fall off. Once the shelf is filled with books, etc. you can't see the holes inside the compartments, but they are visible on he sides. Great for my purpose!
Good color and Good design
Dalila from Potomac Falls, VA – Verified Buyer
I bought this bookcase for the small wall in my living room, the wall was white and has a stairs from one side and bay-window from the other, having this bookcase the color and the design fits exactly and added great look on the wall . the book case has to position as mentioned on the pictures , i used the position the horizontal position and added 2 rectangular canvas paintings this combination made it look perfect. also this book case was very easy to put together, it is not made of real hardwood but the color and the design made it look fancy and not cheap piece of furniture. I am very happy with the value it added to my living room.
Bought One, Then Another

After assembling the first one and using it as a bookcase standing vertical, I realized the same piece could work in the dining area as a sideboard/bar/buffet/display piece in the horizontal position. I used some of the areas for wine bottles stacked in postal tube cartons, another holds an ice bucket and on & on! So many options! It is well made & a really good value. The color isn't red but expresso. It is very sturdy, assembling does take time, directions easy to follow. The self stick covers for the holes are a cheap cover up but the top doesn't have any & when I started to fill the spaces, you can't see them. Cons: The self stick covers for the holes are a cheap cover up but the top doesn't have any & when I started filling the areas
Good product, bad service

A week to get it, not so bad. A week to get replacement boards because of a faulty one, ok. Another week because they didn't seem to read my request form and left out two boards and a hardware kit, still never got the kit, really just ridiculous. The bookcase is nice, albeit a a little tricky to assemble. Just hope you don't need replacement parts.
Love the look

We love the way this bookcase / display-case looks. It was actually really easy to put together because all the pieces are marked with numbers, and the instructions give you the exact order to put things together. BUT, the pre-drilled holes on the case were off on a few of the shelves, and so there are some slight gaps between some of the joints that make it apparent that the case was assembled, as opposed to a nicely constructed, high-quality piece. I was also turned off a bit by the little white stickers they give you to cover the screw holes, but from a few feet away they do not look that bad. We use it to store a mixture of books and small sculptures, and are basically happy with it, with the exception of a few of the shelves being crooked due to the badly drilled holes.

The bookcase is one of a kind. It has so many different compartments that it is perfect for all types of items. The item was fairly easy to assemble. I followed the assembly instructions and once I got through the first step, the rest was a breeze. I also had my son helped me, which was a great family project. It could be set either horizontal or vertical. I chose to set my vertical to save floor space. Overall, it is a pretty nice item and has many usage. I am able to place books, vases, jars, flowers, and also small picture frames.
Great looking bookshelf - makes a unique statement
Elizabeth from Vienna, VA – Verified Buyer
So overall I really like this new bookshelf. I was able to put it together fairly easily and it took maybe 3 hours total. I expect it will be much easier to put together the second one I bought. the only thing that I did not like about the book shelf is that some of the interior boxes, pre-drilled holes, don't like up perfectly. So instead of perfect 90 degree corner, they are off by millimeters. I know that once I put things on the shelf and it blends seamlessly with my decor, I won't notice the problem, but right now, while I inspect it minutely, I notice the small imperfections. I think the instructions could have been more explicit that you're supposed to glue the dowels.
Great Bookcase, but lots of pieces
Sandie from Laguna Beach, CA
I counted 34 individual pieces for this item once we unpacked it and thankful I have a husband who knows what he's doing when it comes to putting something together. This is not for the amateur though and if you don't own any tools, forget it! Ladies, get a guy who has patience and won't beat it to death when it doesn't go together right. The final result is great and it's a unique piece of furniture in a room instead of the boring simple lines of a traditional bookcase. We've combined decorative items as well as books very nicely and everyone who sees it comments on it.
Great item for the money.

This is truly white, which many things described as white are not. It is heavy and looks more expensive than it is. Bonus that it does work horizontally. Some very minor finish issues, but for the price, they are easily overlooked. Also, I may have missed it in the description, but the finish up close has a wood grain finish. It is definitely different from a high gloss lacquer finish. Assembly looks like it will be difficult when it arrives, but it was not bad at all, and all of the pieces were numbered so that you could easily follow the diagrams.
