My girlfriend loves to cook. I bought this knife set for her as a Christmas present. Our old knife set was 10+ years old and falling apart, so she was really happy to receive this. The knives are sharp, the handles are shaped perfectly, and we love the variety of knives. The in-block sharpener is a great feature too. We have been using the knives for several weeks and are still very satisfied. We always hand-wash and dry the knives to keep them in good condition. I researched lots of knife sets and read countless reviews. I couldn't justify paying hundreds of dollars for an everyday knife set. This is my fourth, and last Global knife, unless I sell most of my possessions and can afford another just for the bragging rights. That said, these knives are scary sharp, and frankly made to last a lifetime. If you get a nice set of three, you will need no others. This flexible boning knife just glides through meats and chicken, and is great for one like me that likes to cut all the fat off. Without a doubt, this is a quality product. (I was introduced to the Global Brand at a Cooking Class....my trusty JA Henckels are now rarely used.) Also, if you are going to invest this much cash, it would be foolish not to also aquire the Global Ceramic Wheel sharpening tool.
