We got this 18000 BTU ductless unit for our soon to be remodel garage/ laundry room that’s only about 500 square feet so this will be more than enough to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Soon as our HVAC guy comes out and does the installation I’ll update as to it’s efficiency but for the price of a unit this size you can’t beat it and it comes with everything you need. Chills well! I'm using it to cool about 700sq ft and we are COMFORTABLE! I keep my indoor temp 76-78F in the summer usually but my old unit was dying out, so I replaced it with this one. It's a very hot climate here, and this unit is having NO trouble maintaining 76F in here while it's been 94-97F. It's maintaining 74 in the 270 sq ft around it easily. If my space wasn't segmented by a doorway, I believe it would maintain about 74F in this amount of space (again, about 700sq ft).. just for knowledge to anyone considering buying this unit. It's easy to install, very easy. Just be warned that if you have a window sill on the window you'll be installing it in, you'll need to get foam weather strip (wide/thick) to put beneath the window insert and thinner foam (the type with adhesive) to put on top of the install (between window insert and window). Even if you have no window sill, I still recommend the thinner weatherstrip (type with adhesive) on top of the window insert to seal out drafts. ONE COMPLAINT: There is not a strong enough connection between the duct tip and the insert. You WILL need to find a way to reinforce it or it WILL disconnect after you install and try to even just slightly move the unit. I suggest just gluing it with your choice of adhesive after plugging the duct tip into the window insert. IT HAS LATCHES BUT THEY ARE INSUFFICIENT. Overall great unit with a lot of features!. Jay. There are some good features to this air conditioner. It is lightweight and easy to carry and install into the window. It has several modes and the lowest setting makes very little noise. The "quiet" setting is very quiet. It doesn't give the cold cooling feeling that old air conditioners do and feels more like a central air conditioning system. My windows are non standard wide so I had to adjust the installation recommendations. We had AC go out and live in AZ. Well over 100* so we bought this unit for our bedroom. Kept us nice and cool. I like that there is no draining of collected water. I has wheels so, easy enough to move around. The company suggests that you wait 24 hours before using. We did but I am not sure what that has to do with anything.
