I bought this product, because I wanted an elegant, black tufted headboard. When I saw this skyline headboard it seemed to be what I was looking for... unfortunately looks are deceiving. When the headboard arrived I expected a nice true black headboard and a silk-like material. This headboard is not true black. It is much more faded than I expected. (I had seen pictures of the headboard elsewhere and it looked true black.) Also when something is advertised as silk-like I expect a silk-like material (that was probably the most disappointing factor). Let's call it like it is, it's cotton with the slightest, tiniest bit of sheen to it. Not worthy of comparison to silk. However, after I got over the shock and disappointment, this is a beautiful headboard. It's elegant and expensive-looking and is nicely padded, (which is good if you like to read or watch t.v. sitting up against the headboard, it's comfortable.) Everyone who sees it thinks it's nice. The only other problem is that no matter how tight the bolts are it still wiggles a bit, and despite the fact that I have a very tall bed, the headboard is still a bit too tall for my bed, which I'll get fixed because I am not giving this headboard up. Overall for the price and style, this is the nicest headboard you will be able to find, (and Wayfair, is by far the best priced, trust me I've looked everywhere.)"..."  Read more

I purchased the nailhead border headboard in buckwheat and I am very happy with my purchase. I was worried that it would be too short because I have a pillowtop mattress that is extremely high(2'7"), but it is exactly the right height for my mattress. The fabric is more microfiber and less velvet, but it is still very nice. I think the fabric color looks like the color of linen. It is a really nice neutral beige. If you are looking for a creme color this will be too dark for you since it is on the darker side of beige. The headboard is nicely constructed and the nailheads are single nailheads, not a strip. My nailheads are all the same size and perfectly straight except for one that is slightly out of line. I put it together and attached it to my bed in about 25 minutes with the help of my 15 year old daughter. I ordered a duvet set the same day I ordered the headboard and the headboard arrived a day before the duvet! I wasn't notified that the headboard would be arriving and it was sitting on my front porch when I got home from work. I got an email letting me know the headboard had been shipped after it had already arrived at my house, so be aware that it could just show up at any time. You will need two people to carry it since it is large. The headboard does have a strong odor when it arrives, but it does get better with time although it has not gone away completely and it has been a couple of weeks now. This is nice quality for the price and I would buy it again since it fit my budget, but if I had some extra money I would have purchased one of the more expensive, thicker, better quality headboards."..."  Read more

We are very happy with this headboard, especially for the price. It took us about 3 hrs to assemble. It's beautiful in our room and has so much space. We have assembled a fair amount of RTA furniture in our time. We had no trouble with the instructions on this item. [...]It's not completely out of the question that one person could assemble alone; but you should have two people working together. One person can work ahead on certain steps to prep the panels for the other person.The "complaints" I have would be:1. There's one step where you attach two L-brackets. We did not find pre-drilled pilot holes to tell us EXACTLY where to put those brackets. We originally spaced them too far apart and then noticed they didnt pull the front panel flush as they should have. So we had to take them out and put them on again. It was not easy and took a lot of time to deal with these brackets. It was one step in the instructions that said it would take 2 minutes but it took more like 45. Maybe we missed the pilot holes but I dont think so because we looked closely.2. There are no holes cut in the back panel that you can put electrical cords through. This seems to be common on almost all RTA headboards recently (this king size one is the fourth one we have purchased since 2007) and I dont know why. Where is the cord for your alarm clock supposed to go? On other units we purchased, we used a keyhole drill bit to cut our own holes. On this unit, we had an innovative brainstorm and decided to LEAVE OFF THE BACK PANEL COMPLETELY. It looks GREAT this way because we just painted our walls and you see the nice color of the wall in the squares of the headboard and there is no trouble with cords.3. When we put the top panel on, we could not get the black pegs to push down flat into the center upright panels. You cant tell because of the trim piece on the front, but it was annoying that even when my husband sat on it, the panels wouldnt snap together as they should. I dont know what causes this - some error we made or the holes not drilled right, etc.Other notes:1. You should take the time to sort and count all the pieces before beginning. It really helps - not just for this item - you should always do that when assembling anything.2. From our experience with the three other RTA headboards we have (another Prepac and two SouthShore) you definitely CANNOT let water stand on the surface. If you're in the habit as we are of having a cup of water by your bedside, you need to keep the cup on a plastic tray or coaster or something like that. Continuous contact with water/moisture will bubble and degrade the surface.3. Do heed the warning in the instructions to not pound the black pegs in too deep or they will crack the top surface of the headboard. We made that mistake on the white Prepac headboard we own, so we were very careful with this new Cherry one when we did the pegs.In closing, we would recommend this headboard.
