We made 2 mistakes when putting it together...one of them was because the 2 items were labeled incorrectly. The other was we placed the shelf on the wrong side due to forgetting we were facing the back of the headboard while putting it together. Both were easy fixes. We love the headboard, especially how skinny in depth it is, compared to our old one. Give yourself plenty of time to put it together. Also the printed instructions are very faint to read so pull up the instructions here on Wayfair.
