My 12 year old son and I had no problem assembling this in about an hour. I the wood is not as thick/sturdy as I had hoped. I think it will be excellent for our first 4 chickens. I bought this Coop to turn it into a feral cat house with a lot of modifications. I am happy with the results. I insulated it with 1 in foam insulation board, made two levels two escape doors in an entrance. I screened all the windows and added all the plastic to the front so that I can roll it down when the weather gets cold and tack it to the frame to help keep them warm I put linoleum on the floor and added two heated dog pads. I painted the whole thing as there was no way this would be waterproof without it. I added tinted plastic corrugated roofing to cover the existing roof to protect it and also to make that more waterproof. If making modifications be careful cutting the boards because they are only attached at the edges of the frame. It took me a month to complete this but I am very happy with it. Very easy to set up. Instructions were very clear. I recommend going slow and steady with screws. The wood is more lightweight. But looks greats and will be perfect for our runner ducks. I would highly recommend applying a coat of polyurethane to seal the wood for outdoor use. I added an extra piece of greenhouse poly panel to the outside run for a little extra weather protection.. Very easy to put together. Not very sturdy. Locks are not the most secure. There is not any plastic guard on the crease of the egg box to prevent water from entering. The perches are not useful they get knocked over easily and I have removed them. I have 4-6 chickens that use it and they love it. We shall see how it holds up to the winter but it made it well though the Texas heat this summer. For the price I would have preferred better construction. When I ordered this, the pictures were of a completely different coop, so it was a little misleading. However, once assembled I think this will still suit our needs.
