I passed on buying the butcher knife because it’s only 8 inch. This kit came up on sale, I bought it for myself as a Christmas present. We had prime rib for Christmas. I cut the red roast with the knife, it was superb. So I bought a whole boneless pork loin and cut into chops. It failed at this task. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great set in terms of a mix of knives that you'll actually use frequently. The shears are a big winner in this house too. We use the steak knives also for cutting smaller items and when my kids help with cooking. I am just so much happier when I cook with good knives. I don't know how my mother in law cooks with the dull junk she has in her drawer! :) I don't know that they are as top top quality as some single Wusthof's I've puchased in the past, but this is a wonderful set.
