Extra Tall Pet Gates

A metal pet gate provides a secure and flexible solution for creating safe spaces throughout your home. Designed with a pressure-mounted frame, this adjustable cat gate fits openings from 21" to 34" wide and extends in height from 75" to 98". The narrow bar spacing helps keep curious cats safely contained, while the walk-through door allows convenient access for people. Its lightweight plastic accents and locking mechanism add everyday functionality. Plus, we love that this tall pet gate helps create a comfortable environment for pets and their families.

This is likely not what many people are using this skate for, but were doing it to help socialize our wonderful new dog with my two cats, one of them is not very dog savvy. When we tried to do this with a normal baby gate, she kept trying to launch herself over it so of course, he wanted to chase her. This was the most affordable option that I could find for something floor to ceiling that would allow them to become more familiar without the potential danger that an unexpected interaction could have caused. Ive been very happy with it. The socialization is going great, and there is no way that my cat can jump over this. Its also sturdier than I expected as the pup still likes to paw at it from time to time, with no issues so far. Its very easy to open and close. This is a great affordable option!. Katherine. This wooden puppy barrier offers a steady and dependable method to control your pet's movements within your abode, deterring any daring escapades or playful mischief. More than a barrier, it's a stylish accent. Crafted from easy-clean, spray-painted MDF, this portable gate adjusts to fit any entryway. It's the versatile, elegant, and low-maintenance solution for guiding pets indoors and out.

Great product. I love the gate. It's just the right size and weight, and a great color.. Christine. Mendocino, CA. Thu Oct 01 2026

Initial thought was the solid construction. Guess I expected it to be a bit flimsy or wobbly but was very impressed. 2nd impression was of the ease of putting it together & installing it. Went up quickly & smoothly. I would have liked the parts to be marked & instructions a bit clearer but visually, the parts answered any questions I had. It's a basic set up in that regard. We have multiple cats & this is working perfectly. No more zippered screen doors with Velcro periodically replaced from broken zippers. Only issue I have now is wondering why I didn't do this sooner.. Thomas. Whitewater, WI. Wed Oct 07 2026

With a super-tall 74-inch height, this gate effectively keeps cats and large dogs from jumping over, while the narrow 1.37-inch bar spacing keeps small pets from squeezing through. Designed for everyday ease, it features one-handed operation and swings open 90 degrees in either direction—and closes automatically when opened at an angle of less than 90 degrees. Installation is quick and simple, with dual mounting holes for extra stability, and it fits door frames up to 96.5 inches high. Wall protectors prevent damage to your walls, and the adjustable width (30.3–38.2 inches/30.3-47.2 inches) ensures a snug, custom fit for your doorway. This versatile pet gate is perfect for doorways, stairways, and more—keeping your pets safely contained wherever you need them.

I do love the design of this gate. It’s so tall that my kitties can’t go over, around, through, or under. I even like the way it opens to let me go through, without having to negotiate a bottom rail to trip on. It locks securely and was easily assembled and carefully packed. It’s attractive and exceptionally useful. My only concerns: My doorway was not true. It apparently is a few millimeters wider near the top than bottom, so the center doesn’t meet the same way in the top as bottom. This is not the fault of the gate, so I did not deduct a star. My other concern is that there’s a lot of plastic parts. I wish all the components were made of metal. However, since I had no problem with the metal parts during the month I’ve used it, no deducted star there, either.. Janice. Durant, OK. Thu Jun 25 2026

So, we had a bit of trouble in the beginning but Wayfair made it right. The first gate was dented pretty badly, we returned it received the second one which was missing the screws needed to put the footers on. Once the screws were received we were able to put it together correctly, I am so glad we got it. Its very heavy duty. The door is easy to openclose for access and its stylish. I would definitely recommend.. Anonymous. Huntley, IL. Mon Aug 17 2026

Is your furry four-legged friend causing chaos around the house while you’re out? Keep them confined to one room with this must-have pet gate! Crafted from manufactured wood, it features four panels with hinges so it can easily fold up for a simple storage solution when not in use. Plus, it has two support legs so it can stand freely without damaging your walls. And with neutral coloring, it won’t clash with your current color palette.

Attractive and Durable, but Needs Securing I've used this gate since December 2023, and it has held up well. It's attractive, heavy, and true to size, and I really appreciate the height. The included support feet are a nice option, although I don't use them. My main complaint is that my dogs can push the gate to the side unless I secure it with carabiners. With that workaround, it serves its purpose. Overall, I'm happy with its appearance and durability, and I prefer it to a typical utilitarian-looking pet gate.. Sims Family Reviews. Kansas. Works great, easy to install and operated. Kyle. Anderson. Mon Oct 05 2026

This is great. I was looking for a permanent solution to keep the dog from the front door and a way to separate the dogs from my niece when she visits. This is perfect fix. It opens and closes easily with adult human hands, meaning the dogs or my niece can’t open it. It also has a lock, which will be great when my niece is a little older. It is permanently attached to the wall so I don’t have to fumble with a gate, and it isn’t in the way. I am quite happy with this mesh gate.. Anonymous. Sat Jul 11 2026

Gate is easy to use. It’s sturdy.. Robin. Norwalk, CA. Fri Jul 31 2026

The pet gate offers a stylish way to keep your furry friend in safe areas of your home. This indoor dog barrier features a freestanding design that allows for easy installation in the hallway or doorway.

Very pleased with gate, and its features. Helps keep the dogs contained, and out of areas I do not want them in.. Elizabeth. Durham, NC. Thu Sep 17 2026

This gate is very solid and very attractive at the same time. The double latch keeps it fastened better than previous gates I have used. It is easy to move and adjustable to various areas of my home. This is really great for confining my dogs within the house!. Carol. Poway, CA. Fri Oct 09 2026

It is securely fixed with four support points at the top and bottom, ensuring a sturdy and wobble-free setup. The double-lock latch design eliminates worries about clever cats opening the gate. This gate is exactly what we needed to keep our new kitties safe and separate from the other resident cats for a slow and successful integration. It looks great and allows us humans to walk in/out with the convenient latch. I installed it very quickly with no additional tools. Highly recommend!. Patty. PA. Wed Oct 14 2026

The 71" extra-high gate can prevent cats from jumping over the gate and also prevents children from climbing over it. The space between the fences is very narrow at 1.37 inches, which prevent puppies, kittens or children to squeeze through or get their heads stuck between the fences. And this safety gate is adjustable in width, making it possible to safely divide areas where pets or babies should not enter, such as kitchens, entrances, or staircases. It can be adjusted to fit the space, making it very convenient.

This gate worked extremely well for us when we needed a way to keep our 3 huge dogs (1 is 88 lbs) away from our contractors. Stayed firmly in place without being screwed into the wall and was very secure when you lower the little lever that locks it in place.. Rachel. New Braunfels, TX. Sat Aug 29 2026

The height of our safety gate is 55.1 inches, thus effectively preventing pet cats from jumping out. It will be a perfect tall and wide cat gate if you have pets at home. Perfect for use in doorways, hallways, kitchens, and stairs, is the perfect solution for keeping your home safe while allowing easy access for you and your pets.

Easy to install. I bought it to block the cat from going into my son’s bathroom (she likes to do her business in his shower drain…. not that that has anything to do with the gate lol) She could easily scale the 4’ fence so I bought this gate. It’s sturdy. Has some weight to it … doesn’t feel cheap. I put it up a year ago and no troubles at all. It was a great purchase.. Kelli. US. Thu Sep 03 2026

This versatile cat gate stands 55 inches tall—significantly taller than most gates on the market—effectively preventing agile cats from jumping over and providing secure containment. This extra tall pet gate is designed well and setup is mostly straightforward. The specs on the web site claim that this gate will expand up to 42 inches wide and this is simply not true. I was only able to get this to expand as far as 40 inches, see attached photos. When you latch the doors in the center there is only so far you can adjust the left and right sides. I maximized the width and 40 inches is it. Wayfair should update the specs on their web site. Other than that the gate works as intended and I would recommend it as long as you are aware of the 40 inch wide maximum gate dimensions.. Paul. SC. Sun Oct 11 2026

We needed a divider in our laundry room as the dogs go in and out of their dog door and into their space. It comes with floor secures too but we have tile and I’m not sure about drilling those in at this point. Thankfully my dogs get the list and keep to their side! You will need proper wall anchor screws for drywall as one of the hooks is starting to slip out of the wall from use. The product itself is sturdy and a great buy. Ensure a safer and more focused driving experience with our heavy-duty metal dog car barrier. Designed to securely confine your pets in the cargo area, it effectively prevents them from accessing the front seats, reducing distractions and enhancing road safety. Crafted from high-strength tubular with a sleek black powder-coated finish, this barrier is both durable and stylish. It features a tool-free, tension-mounted installation with rubberized ends to protect your vehicle's interior. Adjustable to fit a wide range of vehicles, it spans 34" to 60" in width and 30" to 50" in height, making it ideal for medium to large breeds. Maintain a clear view of the rear while keeping your pets safely in place during travel.

This is a sturdy barrier, that will help contain your pups in the cargo compartment of your SUV. It is easily assembled, and is pretty quiet during travel. Be sure to measure your cargo compartment to ensure proper sizing. I am convinced a determined dog can get through almost any barrier, but at least this one provides a solid deterrant for pups that are casually considering becoming co-pilots. The main issue with this, and most barriers, is that when assembled at the proper height (our cargo area height is 41”) there is a large (16” in our case) open space at the bottom of the barrier that could easily allow a mid-sized dog to get under the barrier. So if you have a smaller dog, you’ll have to come up with a way to block off that bottom gap to ensure your pup stays where you intend for it to stay. This is our second barrier over the years, and it is far superior to the first we used for our pups.. Christopher. Jarrettsville, MD. Wed Apr 30 2025

I really like my new cat gate! I like it has two height adjustments, 36” and 74”. The clear feature looks nicer than having one with bars. It is sturdy and was easy to put together. I also like the lock, easy to open and close. You don’t need to make holes in the walls either!. Sherrie. Greeley, CO. Sun Aug 09 2026

Finally a great way to keep my dog from going downstairs. Easy to quickly block my dog. The really cool thing is when it’s in use it looks nice and when not in use it’s out of the way. Easily installation and highly recommended.. Margaret. Uniontown, PA. Tue Sep 01 2026

This Extra Tall Pet Gate comes with an adjustable cat door to let cats pass freely while restricting larger dogs. The elevated frame prevents pets from jumping over, and narrow bar spacing stops small animals from squeezing through. Constructed from sturdy reinforced metal, it adopts tool-free pressure-mounted installation without drilling or damaging walls. Suitable for doorways, hallways and staircases, this sleek pet barrier matches most home styles and is ideal for multi-pet households.

I needed a gate for the bottom of our stairs, but the opening is much wider than a normal doorway, so finding one that actually fit was a struggle. This one worked perfectly! I love that the extensions allowed us to fit the entire opening without having to drill a bunch of holes (because we did NOT want to drill into the banister) or come up with some weird DIY solution. Once everything was adjusted and tightened, it feels very sturdy and secure. The gate itself is tall, the bars feel solid, and I really like the support piece at the bottom because it helps keep everything stable. The door is also a good width, so you can actually walk through comfortably instead of having to turn sideways every time. Another big plus is that it looks nice especially with our black accents throughout the house. I was worried an extra-wide gate would look huge and awkward in our living room, but the black actually looks really clean with our space. When we don't need it closed, the gate opens up enough that it doesn't feel like the stairs are permanently blocked off. Installation took a little adjusting to get the tension right across such a wide opening, but once we got it set up correctly, it was absolutely worth it. If you have an awkward or extra-wide staircase/opening and regular baby or pet gates aren't wide enough, I definitely recommend this one. Very happy with it!. Dana. Houston, TX. Tue Oct 06 2026

Tool-free tension mounting with rubberized ends ensures a stable fit without damaging your vehicle's interior. Designed to prevent pets from accessing the front seats, this barrier helps you stay focused on the road while maintaining an unobstructed rear view. Easy to store when not in use.

I really love this gate. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is I wish it were a little taller. My cats figured out how to jump over it (straight from the ground), so I wish it were a little taller. We added a cardboard topper as a work around.. Jordyn. New Port Richey, FL. Sat Sep 19 2026

This door is used so that your pets do not go to places where you do not want them to be, such as not going to the street but being able to keep your door open. The instructions for assembling it are not clear at all but there are few pieces to join so you will understand how it is. In my case it cost me too much because the floor where I wanted to put it is uneven so I put it somewhere else. Its not that tall so a tall person would have to bend down. And its divided into two. I would say if you want to leave the top open but it didnt work for me, so I dont understand why the door is divided. Its functional. It looks like glass but its acrylic.. Claudia. Rego Park, NY. Mon Oct 12 2026

Still looking for a durable pet gate? Unlike flimsy alternatives, This tall cat gate uses upgraded, thick-walled reinforced steel tubing for superior impact resistance and stability. withstand daily pushing, pawing, and scratching.Functional and visually unobtrusive, it works well as a safety barrier for stairs, kitchens, and doorways.

I got this to keep my cats out of the laundry room and my mom’s room. It didn’t fit my doorway at first—I should’ve measured better—but I managed to make it work. I had a zip-up mesh door before, and going back and forth was such a hassle. This makes it so much easier, and I’m happy with it!. Stephanie. West Bloomfield, MI. Thu Oct 01 2026

Create a safer home with the Pet Gate, designed for babies and pets. Featuring adjustable safety gate wide, an auto-close design and double-lock system, it keeps children and pets secure while allowing easy one-hand operation. The durable metal frame installs quickly with no drilling or wall damage. Perfect for stairs, doorways, hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, and pet areas as a versatile baby gate and dog gate.

Poorly constructed with cheap materials. The frame would not grip onto several of the tension screws making it impossible to mount. One of the 2 plastic latches that keep the door closed was broken prior to installation. The acrylic plastic is extremely thin and wobbly (1.4mm measured with calipers) and would be ineffective for animals larger than a cat. Do not waste your money.. Mj. Belmont, NC. Wed Oct 07 2026
