Package arrived, and it was a miracle none of the pieces fell out. My hat is off to the delivery driver, who must have worked hard to deliver all together. I just completed the staining using coffee which gave it a beautiful golden brown color, the wood took it well and I was pleased with the quality of the wood and frosted glass. I then added a couple of coats of tung oil which I do not recommend. I sanded it down and stained it again, but this time applied one coat of satin varnish and wow, turned out beautiful!!. Debra. This is a very very heavy door, which is perfect for a barn door, but not a one person job. My biggest issue is that the last two pieces of glass I had to saw out the wood as they would not slide into the grooves. I even tried to swap them out with other pieces. It was very time-consuming and ruined part of the track that took the glass slides into, but it was the only way to get the door fully together. It is otherwise a very nice addition to our home.. It is very heavy and the hardware including the rail is heavy and solid. Instructions for assembling the door are easy to follow. Warning: I'm a noob level door installer and this is the first (and hopefully last) ever door install. Negatives: If you're installing this on drywall/studs, you will need a headboard. It doesn't come with one. If you don't know what that is, me too. It's pretty much a board that needs to be at least as long as the railing between 4-6" wide and 1" thick which you'll probably want to paint it. This is to support the weight of the door. You'll need to buy the board and some 3"-4" screws (probably black structural ones) to screw the board into your studs. There are mentions of this in the instructions but not in much detail and I didn't notice any in the description on the site, which would have been good but probably would have not bought it. The second big negative is the railing holes are spaced so you can't screw them into the studs. You can get one, but the others are relying on the headboard to support the weight of the door. This may affect your ability to center the railing so get a decent headboard. I believe my studs are 16" apart for reference. Minor negatives include the lack of predrilled holes that guide you for the hinges. I had to do a lot of research to figure out how close together to place the door to screw the hinges in. FYI, you want it around 1/4" or less and make sure the doors are lined up. I didn't like the pull handle that comes with the door (yes it comes with it) so I'll install something else but I 3d printed a temporary one in the mean time to avoid putting holes in the door. You will have to drill into the floor to secure the fixed side. I highly recommend getting some painters tape and letting the door hang where it needs to be and outline where the piece needs to be with the tape. Gravity for the win. Positives: I think it's a beautiful door. Hardware feels heavy and very nice quality. The doors itself feel high quality. Its solid wood and the weight of all pieces (doors and hardware) are heavy which adds to the feel of quality. This is a great option for somewhat awkward size openings and limited opening spaces. I had a very difficult time finding a contractor that would recommend and install a single door for me and was ghosted by all them after seeing the opening. This is a great option even for a first time noob installer. If you're going to go for it and have limited experience, it's not impossible and the fact that I was able to do it with good results means you can too! But, take your time and think things through. It turned out beautiful. It wasn’t too bad putting it together, just take your time and the finished product will last a lifetime. The knotty alder wood is beautiful. I installed it between our master bedroom and bathroom, there was an archway without a door. So while my wife was away visiting family for a couple of weeks I ordered it and built and installed it before she got home. I am giving this five stars because everything came intact. I could see once I get it up it will be exactly what I wanted. However, I was not thinking when I ordered it that my thermostat would be in the way. The reason why I do not have a picture of it fully up yet is because now I have to figure out how to bring it out at least by 2 inches so when the door slides back it will not interfere with the thermostat. I will update my review as soon as I can figure out I'm thinking about getting a 2x4 board to go across my wall and then I think I could attach everything else. Door turned out perfect for my application. Easy to assemble. Wish they had holes drilled at 24 and 16 inch centers though. Had to drill some holes myself as my walls are not at 16 inches. Other than that it was perfect.. Anonymous. Thu Jun 04 2026
