Once the plug in to make it electric is on the bottom of the stand. This actually makes it seem like there is a short in the cord if the cord isn’t turned just right when plugged in. Also the material on it is like a leather. It’s not wood. I’m not crazy about it. The lights do change to 3 different modes and seem pretty bright. Im not as happy as I would like to be with it. Love this side table. The table comes assembled, you just have to screw the legs on. Sound is not the best but its a pretty decent speaker, and such a cool feature for a side table.
