Really fun purchase and great educational tool. The only issue I have is that it came with a couple minor scratches already on it, which for $90, is not acceptable; however my kids like it so much, I didn't think it worth the energy to return it (I'm thinking with a 4 & 7 year old, it will receive other scratches anyway!). This globe stand is an authentic reproduction. It is an unidentified concept for one of the Prairie Homes that is designed in the early 1900s. The only marking on the drawing is in his handwriting and says, ''Something like this.'' The proportions, and interpretation, of the drawing were calculated based on the scale of other drawings from this time period.
