This is a well-made, accurate globe with a raised relief to represent topography like mountain ranges. My one complaint is that the color of the holder looks a little darker in the online picture as though it were an antique brass finish, and the actual color is bright golden (spray-painted steel?), so uniform in color that it almost looks plastic. There is also a small blue plastic disk at the top of the holder that isn't shown in the picture. This is still very good; as an object of decor, it's not quite what I wanted.. Mary. Boston, MA. This Desk Globe was adapted from the design for a large brick pedestal in Booth Park, for the town of Glencoe, Illinois. The project, never developed, included covered archway entrances, lights, troughs for watering horses, seating and sculptures.

The base for this Desk Globe was adapted from one of several furniture designs done in the forties. It is believed that he was working on designs for either the homes designed about that time or for his own homes, Taliesin and Taliesin West. As there are no specific notations on the drawings, they have not been assigned to any particular project.
