This is a nice globe and stand but there is no cord routing and the switch is a cheap inline cord switch that you sometimes see used with cheap lamps. The cord with switch just hangs down from the globe. The illustration does not show this.. Kuskokwim. Baker City, Oregon. Sun Dec 05 2010

It arrived very fast, in just 3 days. The stand is very heavy and you have to be careful when moving the globe itself. It comes easily off the rockers that it rests on. The base for this Desk Globe was adapted from one of several furniture designs done in the forties. It is believed that he was working on designs for either the homes designed about that time or for his own homes, Taliesin and Taliesin West. As there are no specific notations on the drawings, they have not been assigned to any particular project.

Provoke the imagination in new ways. This illuminated globe shows stars, constellations and nebulae when not lit. Turn the light on and witness the luminous beauty of approximately 88 celestial images. Features metal black base and pewter semi-meridian.

Really fun purchase and great educational tool. The only issue I have is that it came with a couple minor scratches already on it, which for $90, is not acceptable; however my kids like it so much, I didn't think it worth the energy to return it (I'm thinking with a 4 & 7 year old, it will receive other scratches anyway!). Sarah. Savannah, GA. Sat Jan 10 2015

This Desk Globe was adapted from the design for a large brick pedestal in Booth Park, for the town of Glencoe, Illinois. The project, never developed, included covered archway entrances, lights, troughs for watering horses, seating and sculptures.

Beautiful thing and excellent quality! It is exactly as show on website. And as an unexpected bonus, the land is a RAISED RELIEF! Very tiny details too. One can spend hours with magnifying glass over it. Great tool to teach kids Geography (school don't as you know). And it looks so classic! Recommend 100%. Sergey. Thunder Bay, ON. Mon Mar 08 2021

This globe stand is an authentic reproduction. It is an unidentified concept for one of the Prairie Homes that is designed in the early 1900s. The only marking on the drawing is in his handwriting and says, ''Something like this.'' The proportions, and interpretation, of the drawing were calculated based on the scale of other drawings from this time period.

Excellent quality and presentation. Highly recommended to pick up any room!. Christopher. Jacksonville, FL. Wed Jul 27 2022

These designs were originally intended to be produced in metal, china, or crystal. The uniqueness and complexity of the designs limited the manufacturer of the collection to a few pieces during this time. This Globe's stand is adapted from one of the Archival drawings.

The combination of progressive design, artistic angles, and metal floor stand with a 16'' blue ocean globe and pewter finished die-cast meridian gives the Trafalgar an air of sophistication.

Bought as a gift for my husband. He really enjoys it. Pros - Larger globe size 16"; Easy to view the entire globe-as it rotates fully on the stand; sturdy stand. Cons - Some of the individual segments of the map are slightly off where they meet. Worst one is in photo. Considered returning the globe, but he felt it was not bad enough to return.. Deborah. Fort Myers, FL. Tue Jan 04 2022

The best of both worlds. The stand accommodates a hardbound Rand McNally World Atlas and the 12'' antique ocean globe rests in a calibrated brass-plated full-meridian. The cherry wood grain base enhances the Premier's rich appearance.
