I bought these to help reduce the wind that we get on our deck. We have them attached to the railings. Last year we had to chase our furniture a few times during our wind storms but not this year. They worked very well as a wind break. They definitely had to be secured well to keep them in place. They look very nice and add to the look of our deck instead of taking away. The privacy screens arrived yesterday and I opened one of the boxes today. There are 3 panels per screen to fasten together, and the legs to attach. Hardware was provided, as were the instructions. Arrived very quickly with no damage during shipping. Excited to get the 5 screens assembled and the oxidation process to begin. I will be using them in my courtyard around the hot tub for privacy. I bought these to convert to summer window screens on my 1958 house in Albuquerque, NM. In the summer, the morning sun hits my back windows directly and puts a lot of heat into the house (and I don't want to replace the original steel window frames). I cut the feet off of the screens and made brackets from 1.5" aluminum angle to attach to the window trim, plus legs to support the weight. The screens are very heavy, and the plastic geometric sections are fairly thick, which is nice. The frame is sturdy and the black finish is durable. Although the description says that these can't be painted, Rustoleum 2X seemed to adhere after scuffing the surface with a Scotchbrite pad and acetone. (We'll have to see how it holds up over the summer.) My only issue with these is that the panels bow in the sun. These are made in Canada, so maybe they're designed for Canadian sun and not the high desert. :) It could be exacerbated by the fact that I have the frame horizontal, but the panels were bowing when I had them individually upright to spray paint. I would have tried the steel ones but was less confident that I'd be able to get the rust off for a clean painting surface. It would be great if these were offered in a primed steel option for painting. Overall I'd say these are pretty nice, but would work better in a shaded area, or go with the metal version.. James. we bought these to enclose a front yard area. i love the starburst pattern! these provide the perfect amount of privacy while letting us still peek out through the panels. they arrive in a silver steel color and we let ours rust from the elements because that final orange-y color was what we were going for in the end with our project. they turned orange pretty quickly but will leave an orange mark if you leave them against something light colored while they go through the process (steel silver to orange rust). we bought a couple more panels when our project idea changed and they came quickly and well packaged. there is a vinyl product like this for sale in white and black (i think?) from wayfair but we are in the sub-tropical desert in arizona (outside phoenix) and needed something that could stand up to the dry heat, blistering summer sun and the sub-tropical moisture. we had an extra panel left over so we turned it vertically and installed it on the other side of the house to conceal the trash cans. love these panels, highly recommend!. This screen worked perfectly to give us privacy from our nosy neighbor. These panels are thick steel and have lasted for almost seven years out in the elements. Very happy with this product, attractive and well built. Provides a little privacy break from our neighbor without being obtrusive. If using it in a very windy area suggest using stakes (not provided), or as we did put planters on the legs to weigh it down. We originally bought 3 of these panels which were METAL, which we love. 2 years later we wanted 4 more panels, but the metal panels were no longer available. In order to keep a consistent and continuous look in the yard we bought 4 plastic panels since the metal ones were no longer available. We will see how well the plastic ones last.. Linda.
