When taking them apart to look at the glass on its own, we saw that the top part that attaches to the hardware is oblong in shape. We had the pendants professionally installed by an electrician on a dimmer switch and also purchased the soft white lightbulbs with the visible coil (like Wayfair has pictured in the lamp) - purchased them at HD. The dimmer switch made all the difference. We purchased them in Matte Black with the Smoke colored glass.
