This is a beautiful bed. The material is a very soft velvet and the entire bed is covered. The headboard has a piece of wood that attaches to each side which adds a nice detail. Bed is super sturdy and assembly was very basic. You do not need a box spring. I have a mattress set which makes the bed taller than the footboard. This bed is definitely a statement piece.
