The only downside was the instruction manual—I didn’t find it very helpful. In my opinion, the dog house is simple enough that it can be assembled without relying much on the instructions. We love this dog house. We have a 110 pound German shepherd who prefers being outside. I never grew up with an outdoor dog so I was extremely hesitant to move him full time to our backyard, but this dog house made it an easier choice. He’s super happy and so are we. One thing to note is the installation is very tricky. We thought we could do it ourselves but we ended up paying someone 700 to build it for us. Our family used this house for our chickens! It worked perfectly for a hen that needed to be isolated from the flock. The heat mat thats provided does not include a temperature dial but it does regulate at an appropriate heat temperature thats not too hot. Our 11 year old daughter put it together all by herself. She liked how the numbers in the directions were hard printed on the plastic pieces making it easy to follow and put together. I would suggest small dogs, bunnies, chickens or the alike as the floor would likely bend with heavier weight. We loved the two room concept so the hen could rest on one side, and have her food and water on the other. The flap does keep the cold air out and the vents help to regulate the airflow when the unit is fully closed.
