This suited our need almost exactly. I kept the door off since it’s used as a hang out instead of a true kennel. As others stated, it isn’t gray in the least but a nicer shade than a true brown. Not sure why they don’t have you attach the piece with inside connects (top to sides) first and the bottom with outside connections last instead but I’d recommend trying that first.. Anonymous. Really love this dog crate. I’ve been waiting to get a wooden crate for my dog and had a hard time choosing because the reviews. Upon getting this item, I inspected the wood and the metal bars. They are all sturdy and created perfect for a dog who has been crate trained. It works very well for my dog. He is a Pomsky and weighs about 25 pounds. My dog has been crate trained for 2 years and doesn’t scratch at the metal or wood. I think this will hold up well. The reason I am giving It 4 instead of 5 stars is because on the double doors there is a latch that can be screwed on to keep one of the doors shut. The company has mark four small holes to screw in the latch. Unfortunately, the holes do not line up and I could only get 2 screws in. This is a cute durable crate. I have a dog that can bust out of practically any crate but this keeps her in. The downside is because she is constantly trying to bust out, the door often gets stuck closed. It was be helpful if this was made better where the door latch is but overall it's a wonderful crate isn't trying to bust out.
