Aim for a nightstand with a top that sits close to your mattress height, making it easy to set down a glass without sitting up. Tall nightstands usually range from 30 to 35 inches, while extra-tall options exceed 35 inches. A table that is too low can get lost next to a tall platform bed, so be sure to check the exact dimensions in the product specifications before purchasing.
A single drawer is usually enough for a phone, a book, and a charger. Having two drawers helps keep folded clothes off the surface, or gives both sides of the bed equal storage. Be sure to check the drawer count in the product specifications, as single and double-drawer tables often require different amounts of floor space. If you need even more room for your clothes, a dresser is the best next step.
Some models do include a built-in USB port, keeping your charger within easy reach of your pillow. Since this feature isn't available on every white nightstand, it's best to double-check the specs list before buying. Just keep in mind that you will still need a nearby wall outlet to plug the table in.
A nightstand keeps essential items right within reach of your bed, while a dresser provides extra room for folded clothes that won't fit in just a drawer or two. If the space beside your bed is under 21 inches wide, a narrow nightstand fits perfectly where a wider chest cannot. Explore other finishes in our full nightstands selection.
If your bedroom is already bright, a white nightstand helps prevent the space beside the bed from feeling too heavy or dark. Just make sure to match the table's height with your mattress and leave enough room to walk past comfortably. Beds with a white or pale finish tend to look much more cohesive with a white table than a dark wood frame would. Be sure to check all the height measurements in the product specifications before making a final decision.
