The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. This bed is probably one of the highest quality items I have ever gotten from Wayfair. Even my dad, who helped me assemble, was really blown away by the craftsmanship and quality. It was packaged beautifully to protect the contents of the box. Assembly was a BREEZE. Took us about 20-30 minutes, as instructions said. You can move the drawer to any location on the bed. The headboard is stunning! I can’t say it enough. I sit up with my head against it at night if I’m reading, and it’s so plush and soft. The linen fabric is high quality. The ONLY qualm I have is that it’s a tad wide, as you can see in my photo. The bed is not flush on one side. It’s obviously hidden my sheets and bedding, but it is a little bit of a nuisance. I’m really happy with this bed overall! Assembly was very straightforward and didn’t take long, which was a huge plus. The boucle material is incredibly soft and gives the bed such a cozy, elevated look—perfect for a kid’s room or guest space. My daughter absolutely loves it and was excited from the moment we set it up. One thing to note is the storage drawers. They are made of a lighter plastic material and attach with velcro rather than being fully built-in on tracks. They still work fine for lighter items, but just something to be aware of if you’re expecting more heavy-duty storage. The bed looks exactly as pictured online. Assembly is tedious intakes quite some time. One thing to note is the shelf on either side is not actually Wood. It is some type of hard material but it is covered with a padded vinyl wood grain look.
