This clock is with a unique and timeless design. It is suitable for your room.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the Hermle Austen Clock (we chose the Cherry finished case, with the quartz movement). We researched for some time before deciding on this chiming, mantle clock by Hermle. First, the quality is excellent, with a German-made movement and an American-made case. Also, the Cherry finish is perfectly even, and the brass dial and handle are lovely, subtle tones. Just as important, the chimes sound wonderful -- almost as though we were in London and hearing Big Ben from a distance (there are 3 options for the sound of the chimes, we use Westminster). Finally, the Perigold staff were great at answering my questions before I placed the order, and the Perigold shipping was really fast.. Janice. TN. Mon Dec 21 2020

IT’S ABOUT TIME … AND PATIENCE: This clock is classic and beautiful with a gold rim around its face, gold numbers, gold scrollwork, black ornamentals, and spindly hands. Another reviewer stated the cover over the face is plastic instead of glass and that the "wood" is really pressed cardboard hiding beneath a thinly veiled veneer. I think he was right about the cover - it does feel like plastic instead of glass. The wood feels like wood to me. I hope it is since the clock is described as being made of wood. The chime melodies are all beautiful and a joy to hear … except at night when I want to sleep. Fortunately, the volume can be lowered or the chimes can be turned off between 11 p.m. and 5:45 a.m. or turned off altogether. I would like to keep the back cover on all the time but it’s a bit of a pain to put on after removing it to switch chimes on or off. It’s important to READ THROUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE attempting to install batteries and set the time. And it takes patience to get the chimes to sound on the hour. I used my smartwatch with a second hand to set the time so that it would chime at the right time. It’s not perfect but it’s as close as my patience allows. Like most everything else, the clock is made in China. It’s sad that it’s not made in the United States. At just over $200, I feel like I’m paying good money for something lacking the quality of past years (plastic cover and the possibility of veneer instead of real wood). So only four stars for not being made in the United States and possibly cheaper materials.. Pixie. Florida. Mon Jul 13 2026

This clock has been a wonderful addition to my living room. It keeps good time and chimes on cue. It does need to be wound at least two times a week, something I’m not used to with self-wind clocks, but it isn’t a burden to adjust my schedule for winding. I enjoy it.. Anonymous. Tue Jan 11 2022

(Please don't publish my name or email.) It is a pretty clock. I was disappointed, because I thought it chimed on the quarter hour, as well as the hour. But when we turned down the volume of the Westminster chimes, they sounded better. We still haven't been able to get the hour of the day, and the number of strikes on the clock, in sync. We will keep trying. Thank you.. Anonymous. Seattle, WA. Thu May 21 2026
