Cute, but no instructions as to how you are supposed to stick your hand way inside to insert the battery. You can't see the battery compartment really, so no idea which end is which with respect to the battery. I ended up pretty much "removing" the clock to see what I was doing. I managed to get the clock back in its position place, but it was difficult; trial and error. Not a user-friendly design feature. Also, the clock face itself is at a considerable slow to conform to the slope of the kettle, I guess. In my opinion, the clock could have jutted out more and closer to a 90-degree angle, this improving viewing of the clock face. IT’S ABOUT TIME … AND PATIENCE: This clock is classic and beautiful with a gold rim around its face, gold numbers, gold scrollwork, black ornamentals, and spindly hands. Another reviewer stated the cover over the face is plastic instead of glass and that the "wood" is really pressed cardboard hiding beneath a thinly veiled veneer. I think he was right about the cover - it does feel like plastic instead of glass. The wood feels like wood to me. I hope it is since the clock is described as being made of wood. The chime melodies are all beautiful and a joy to hear … except at night when I want to sleep. Fortunately, the volume can be lowered or the chimes can be turned off between 11 p.m. and 5:45 a.m. or turned off altogether. I would like to keep the back cover on all the time but it’s a bit of a pain to put on after removing it to switch chimes on or off. It’s important to READ THROUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE attempting to install batteries and set the time. And it takes patience to get the chimes to sound on the hour. I used my smartwatch with a second hand to set the time so that it would chime at the right time. It’s not perfect but it’s as close as my patience allows. Like most everything else, the clock is made in China. It’s sad that it’s not made in the United States. At just over $200, I feel like I’m paying good money for something lacking the quality of past years (plastic cover and the possibility of veneer instead of real wood). The clock arrived promptly, so that was nice. Not sure if the plastic cover was supposed to be detached from the clock's face, but that's how it arrived. I bought this for my husband for our 18th anniversary. It’s a small piece and didn't cost much but the wood is beautiful and the time piece looks expensive.
