This range hood is high quality. I bought a cheaper version a few years ago for my old house. I liked it, but now that I have this I can see where the cheaper one was lacking. This range hood is thicker steel that wont dent as easily. The oil tray is steel, the baffle filters feel commercial grade, the large duct size really moves a lot of air. I am glad I spent the money. Its loud but quieter than the old one. Relatively quiet for the amount of air it moves. The instructions are good, mounting is easy and secure. The ExtremeAIR 42” range hood arrived quickly. We unboxed it from very good packaging, because the shipping box was obviously crumpled on the corner. Hood was in perfect shape. Very sturdily made. We plugged it in, tried the remote and we are delighted with the power it has. Not as loud as I thought it might be on highest setting. I’d expect some noise at 900 CFM. Lights are placed near the front corners to see what you’re cooking. They are only On or Off, no dimmer or night light-the only thing I might say would be an upgrade. My husband said the hanging plate for attachment is adequate for such a heavy unit, but you need to have solid wood for those screws to hang it. Not a problem here. There is no pipe for the vent, only the baffle and decorative cover for the chimney. You will need to buy pipe and elbow if I going through the wall. Works beautifully! Very pleased!. Darra.
