It folds probably easier than any other Adirondack chair brand I have. Its very sturdy and well manufactured. These are nice chairs, look good and are sturdy. If you plan to keep them in the shade or in a covered porch or patio then you should be fine. It can take a little water and sun exposure from time to time, but as long as its not exposed to the elements 24/7, it should be fine. We planned to keep this out in the yard and made the mistake of choosing these wooden chairs instead of HDPE. We live in Florida, and get extreme sun and also very heavy and frequent rain. I got tired of chasing down my cheap chairs after every storm so I got these 3 years ago. They are heavy enough not to blow away but still light enough to move around. And they fold away when needed. The color is through and through and they look great after 3 years in the weather. I liked mine so much I requested another pair for Mother's day and I love them. For more comfort I paired them with the footrest/ ottoman. But you don't have to, I just prefer it. These will last for years and are worth it. Oh, and the cupholder is like icing on the cake! I purchased these chairs as an alternative to the heavier Adirondack chairs you typically see. These will have to be removed from a grass area every week so I needed something I can stack and move with ease. They are a bit heavier than I expected, but still much lighter than a traditional Adirondack chair. While they do stack, they don’t stack in a tight stack. They are very comfortable and seem sturdy.
