The table can be finished with a quality penetrating oil, or left to weather to a silvery grey color. Many or most of the logs will have cracks. These cracks are called checks. Checking occurs when the logs dry and the cells shrink causing the wood to split. This does not weaken the wood. Checking helps give cedar furniture its rustic beauty.

Chair is cedar and looks like the one pictured (good). Not sure what “handcrafted” means but it’s a stretch. Chair was made with a power router (by backsliding Amish?) and only the seating surface is sanded. Very rough surfaces. Came with zinc bolts not appropriate for outdoors. Came mostly assembled and solid. Pre-assembled parts do have coated screws. Reasonably happy but seller should remove Amish and handcrafted from title and send galvanized bolts.. Daniel. It’s only March in Michigan, but we ordered, then assembled these Adirondack chairs. Assembling wasn’t too bad; just be sure to put the washers in the right place if you want the chairs to fold! Gorgeous chairs!! We ordered two and they look amazing and are such great quality. They are harder to put together than some other items we’ve done, but the quality is worth the extra time needed. My husband and I are handy, but if you are not you might struggle with this. Instructions aren’t extremely clear. We made two and put the first one together in a bit over an hour.
