These are nice chairs, look good and are sturdy. If you plan to keep them in the shade or in a covered porch or patio then you should be fine. It can take a little water and sun exposure from time to time, but as long as its not exposed to the elements 24/7, it should be fine. We planned to keep this out in the yard and made the mistake of choosing these wooden chairs instead of HDPE. We live in Florida, and get extreme sun and also very heavy and frequent rain. These are very nice chairs. They were pretty quick to assemble, as they weren't in a bunch of pieces. The box was very heavy, so be careful! They are quite comfortable, and have a wide seat. This is a great Adirondack chair. The color is rich and vibrant. It really stands out in a setting of bright colors. It has a smooth textured finish vs some that have like a wood grain finish.
