I was looking for a stainless steel set because I like stainless steel so much better than just aluminum ones. I love that they are made of heavy 18/10 polished stainless steel because they are beautiful in my kitchen and seem very durable. I don't, however; know how long the polished look of the stainless is going to last. These pots and skillets have a thick aluminum disk base that is great for quick, even heat distribution. This thick aluminum disk base is completely encapsulated by stainless steel which helps them resist corrosion and discoloring making clean up easier. The pans' rims are rolled for strength and make it possible to pour without dripping.I have to confess though that I love my cast iron skillets better than these nonstick skillets. I don't like nonstick coatings because they usually end up scratching easily (unless used with proper utensils) and sometimes flake off into the food I cook. I love cast iron and if seasoned properly it is very easy to clean. Also, I am sometimes anemic (have low iron) especially while pregnant and cooking with cast iron helps my anemia. My mother, however; is post menopausal and too much iron could cause her problems she doesn't need or want so I like having a few nonstick pieces of cookware around for when she visits. This set has 4 pots that all have glass lids. These lids fit tightly and help keep moisture and nutrients inside. I can also see into the pot at everything cooking inside it which makes it easier to know when the contents start boiling or simmering without lifting the lid and letting the nutrients and moisture escape. The handles have a retro look to them because they are made of phenolic (Bakelite) and are oven-safe up to 350 degrees F."..."  Read more

I received this same set (minus the non-stick fry pans) from my mother-in-law 30 years ago. I made lots of mistakes, but had even more successes with these pieces, yet they still look almost new, and work as well today as they first did! The ONLY problem I have had over the years is the handles occasionally become loose, but a couple of turns with a screwdriver (or more commonly, a knife) and they were good to go! My son has moved out and was in need of a good set of cookware. I was amazed to see the same basic set of Farberware! I have cooked our entire married life with this set. It works fine until you need to cook for a larger group (over 15 people) and then you might need some more of the larger pots. But, for an everyday, truly utilitarian set of cookware, this can't be beat. I do have pieces of more expensive cookware as well as some commercial cookware, but my standard go to is still my Farberware!"..."  Read more

I have been using these pans for about 3 weeks now. The first use was with breakfast, eggs - was alittle disappointed with that first use but after this use and the pan had some cooking oil in it, the surface seemed to be "primed" or something so that the next use and those afterwards - EXCELLENT! I like the shape of the sauce pans - just contemporary feeling. I ordered and just received today the 12 inch fry pan - this set does not include a large frying pan or a top for it. But, I have used the 10 inch fry pans for things and they are sufficient most times as I do not have a huge family. Am happy to have the bigger frying pan tho but wish that it had a top included with it. Prior to getting these pans I was using cookware that my husband purchased after seeing them on TV. It had a "lifetime" guarantee - but this company has gone out of business! Whose lifetime???? Theirs obviously!!! The inside finish on the pans was a mess! Peeled so badly!!!!!!!! Tossed those pans out immediately after these new pans came! I am hoping that this cookware will have a better longevity in my kitchen. But, I do know that cookware these days, of any sort, does get old and will show wear and will need replacement sometime. Do not buy any pans and think they will last forever! I plan to use utensils that are designed not to scratch cookware surfaces. I am not a cook that uses high cooking flames etc. so I think that I will enjoy using these pans for a long time. (I do not like "grease" spattering up into the air and all over my stove and myself, so no high flames here. Hot, high flames must have negative effects on things, well I figure they must.) I have looked at higher priced competitive cookware and I just cannot spend that much money on cookware of any sort! Again, I do find that pans are not designed anymore to last forever. Are those higher priced ones longer lasting? Perhaps some of you know........................... Cleaning these pans is easy and complete in very little time. I like this as do not like BIG, stuck on messes to clean when the energy I have to make dinner after work is about all the energy I have left after a very stressful nursing job (but I enjoy it!). I dislike cookware that is heavy to hold when food is in it. These pans have good quality but do not weigh too much to handle with ease. Also, not too light- light weight would indicate poor quality to me. So, buy the pans if you think they will meet your needs. I'd like a 3 quart sauce pan - but will look for one in another brand as one is not available at all in this cookware line. But, still, this is just a matter of something I like sometimes, like for boiling a larger batch of pasta. Again, a product and service rating magazine does rate these pans well. I had read about them one night online before getting an article on pots and pans. Good luck with your decision! I'm hoping that mine, to purchase these pans, was a good one! I also like having "my guests" see nice looking pans on my stove!"..."  Read more

I absolutley love this pot set. It is easy to clean, nothing sticks and it heats quite quickly. I wondered how long it would take to boil water as you shouldn't use these pots above medium heat. It was just as quick, if not quicker than the stainless steel set I replaced this set with.I have to mention as well that anybody that has sensitive skin or has used cortizone on their hands for lengthy periods of time, such as myself, this set is a must have!! My other set was stainless steel and I was always struggling to hang on to the pot handles because they would always slip out of my hands or I would forget to use my better hand and burn my fingers touching the lid handle. That does not happen anymore! I can't say enough great things about Rachael Ray's products. [...] I wouldn't trade my Rachael Ray products in for anything."..."  Read more
