Area Rugs

We bought this rug in order to protect our hardwood floors under our dining room table. We have two young children so basically the rug is being used as a dropcloth. We did get a quote from a carpet retailer who would have charged us almost the same amount as the rug but we would have ended up with a carpet remnant with no design, ugly colors from which to choose and we would have had to steam clean it when it became too dirty. The Spinx rug is perfect for us because it can be hosed down if need be and the best part is the design and colors. We've had the rug for almost a month now and plenty of food plus a full glass of milk has dropped on it and the rug still looks great. I'm contemplating ordering another for our front porch outside. The carpet is so inexpensive and the shipping was free so it's difficult to find a reason not to buy one. I will add that we did purchase the carpet pad to go underneath the rug but we are shopping around for the padding that resembles a somewhat thick felt fabric. We have friends that learned the hard way that some rugs on hardwood floors can leave the small woven design of the rug backing on the floor. They advised the felt-type rug padding so we're on the lookout for one though we haven't tried too hard yet. I wanted to update our den. For various reasons (not the least of which is that my husband hates change) it isn't possible to buy any new furniture now. So, I decided that some new lamps,new slipcovers, a new color scheme and some new rugs would do the trick. The room went from green EVERYTHING to a lovely latte colored oasis. Even with the old furniture the room looks terrific, due in large part to these rugs. I love braided rugs, but here again, my husband likes to stick with the same old, same old. However, this time I insisted we do it MY way and even he admits it looks great. The quality of the rugs is wonderful - I don't find them to be at all rough. The colors are almost exactly as pictured and look so pretty against the hardwood floor. We got a great deal on these too. Wayfair had a 25% coupon PLUS the rug pads were included in the price. We didn't put the rugs down immediately since the room had to be painted first - so they were bagged for a couple of weeks. Once down the edges curled a bit, but after a couple of hours they laid out perfectly. As for durability, time will tell, although one of our dachshunds is a "scratcher" but hasn't yet hurt the rug or pulled any threads. This is the third purchase I have made of the Safavieh Indoor/Outdoor rugs and every item has been better than expected. Living in the Lake Erie snow belt, we get extremes in weather; hot, humid summers with lots of rain and fridged winters with tons of snow, sleet and rain. We purchased an outdoor patio rug set two years ago that was so nice that we continued on with this manufacturer and seller. Purchase number two, about three months after the first. was actually two sets of rugs, one for the entry foyer and one for the garage access area. Our most recent purchase was for kitchen rugs. We are not the most neat cooks tending to get food and goo on the floor. All of the rugs are ideal for the task. All are so easy to care for... just drag them out into the yard and hose them down. The color has not faded and the rugs show little or no wear. There are only two complaints, we would have. First, not all the rugs list the name of the color and you have to hope the color in the picture is correct. Second, even when the color name(s) is given, the pictures may show a darker color than the actual rug; this happened with our last purchase but the color still worked out."..."  Read more

I have purchased several of these rugs over the years. I have a large special needs elderly dog that has accidents on these rugs. She currently lays on one most of the day. They are 100 scrubbable and bleachable which is impossable to find in a rug, especially an attractive one. I have soaked the rugs in the bathtub overnight in with bleach. All smells are gone. We have a small one by the door which can be scrubbed to get rid of foot traffic stains. I have purchased other indooroutdoor rugs from reputable stores but they end up feeling like plastic. In a perfect world, these rugs could be machine dried instead of line dried. These rugs are an absolute for pet owners!"..."  Read more
