A metal pet gate provides a secure and flexible solution for creating safe spaces throughout your home. Designed with a pressure-mounted frame, this adjustable cat gate fits openings from 21" to 34" wide and extends in height from 75" to 98". The narrow bar spacing helps keep curious cats safely contained, while the walk-through door allows convenient access for people. Its lightweight plastic accents and locking mechanism add everyday functionality. Plus, we love that this tall pet gate helps create a comfortable environment for pets and their families.

This is likely not what many people are using this skate for, but were doing it to help socialize our wonderful new dog with my two cats, one of them is not very dog savvy. When we tried to do this with a normal baby gate, she kept trying to launch herself over it so of course, he wanted to chase her. This was the most affordable option that I could find for something floor to ceiling that would allow them to become more familiar without the potential danger that an unexpected interaction could have caused. Ive been very happy with it. The socialization is going great, and there is no way that my cat can jump over this. Its also sturdier than I expected as the pup still likes to paw at it from time to time, with no issues so far. Its very easy to open and close. This is a great affordable option!. Katherine. Northwood, NH. Tue Jul 21 2026

This is currently separating my 3 cats from my mom's 2 cats that all recently moved in. Best gate ever keep them safe and able to see eachother and become familiar with the new kitties. It's easy to put up and going in and out of the gate is a breeze as there is no floor lip from the gate to trip on.. Deena. CA. Sun Oct 11 2026

With a super-tall 74-inch height, this gate effectively keeps cats and large dogs from jumping over, while the narrow 1.37-inch bar spacing keeps small pets from squeezing through. Designed for everyday ease, it features one-handed operation and swings open 90 degrees in either direction—and closes automatically when opened at an angle of less than 90 degrees. Installation is quick and simple, with dual mounting holes for extra stability, and it fits door frames up to 96.5 inches high. Wall protectors prevent damage to your walls, and the adjustable width (30.3–38.2 inches/30.3-47.2 inches) ensures a snug, custom fit for your doorway. This versatile pet gate is perfect for doorways, stairways, and more—keeping your pets safely contained wherever you need them.

I do love the design of this gate. It’s so tall that my kitties can’t go over, around, through, or under. I even like the way it opens to let me go through, without having to negotiate a bottom rail to trip on. It locks securely and was easily assembled and carefully packed. It’s attractive and exceptionally useful. My only concerns: My doorway was not true. It apparently is a few millimeters wider near the top than bottom, so the center doesn’t meet the same way in the top as bottom. This is not the fault of the gate, so I did not deduct a star. My other concern is that there’s a lot of plastic parts. I wish all the components were made of metal. However, since I had no problem with the metal parts during the month I’ve used it, no deducted star there, either.. Janice. Durant, OK. Thu Jun 25 2026

This is great. I was looking for a permanent solution to keep the dog from the front door and a way to separate the dogs from my niece when she visits. This is perfect fix. It opens and closes easily with adult human hands, meaning the dogs or my niece can’t open it. It also has a lock, which will be great when my niece is a little older. It is permanently attached to the wall so I don’t have to fumble with a gate, and it isn’t in the way. I am quite happy with this mesh gate.. Anonymous. Sat Jul 11 2026

The pet door is adjustable and the different heights of the small door until only the cat can pass but the dog can't. These door gates provide a bold, sophisticated statement, create a striking contrast, offer practicality, and enhance security perception.

The gate was the perfect length for our hallway. I love that the cat door is adjustable. It allows our big dog and small dog to stay out of our cat’s area.. Michele. US. Fri Aug 14 2026

The 71" extra-high gate can prevent cats from jumping over the gate and also prevents children from climbing over it. The space between the fences is very narrow at 1.37 inches, which prevent puppies, kittens or children to squeeze through or get their heads stuck between the fences. And this safety gate is adjustable in width, making it possible to safely divide areas where pets or babies should not enter, such as kitchens, entrances, or staircases. It can be adjusted to fit the space, making it very convenient.

This gate worked extremely well for us when we needed a way to keep our 3 huge dogs (1 is 88 lbs) away from our contractors. Stayed firmly in place without being screwed into the wall and was very secure when you lower the little lever that locks it in place.. Rachel. New Braunfels, TX. Sat Aug 29 2026

Reminder: Please measure before purchasing to ensure proper fit. Important: Do not cut off the rolled strip before installation is complete! As a busy parent and pet owner, I was worried about my toddler crawling onto the stairs or my puppy darting through doorways. This pressure-mounted gate solved it all! Made of thick steel with 2-inch spacing, it securely blocks pets—tested to hold 180 lbs. The 180° two-way door opens automatically: under 90°, it swings shut; at 90°, it stays open. I can easily carry groceries and open it one-handed. The door width is adjustable, ranging from 29 to 109 inches, suitable for every different opening where you need a door sill. The double-lock keeps kids safe but lets adults open quickly. Best part? No drilling—I installed it without damaging walls.

Used this to keep my dogs out of the front seat of my motor home. Couldn’t find anything made for that, but this works fine! I love that it has a gate so I can get in the back easily.. Linda. West Haven, UT. Fri Oct 02 2026

Easy to install. I bought it to block the cat from going into my son’s bathroom (she likes to do her business in his shower drain…. not that that has anything to do with the gate lol) She could easily scale the 4’ fence so I bought this gate. It’s sturdy. Has some weight to it … doesn’t feel cheap. I put it up a year ago and no troubles at all. It was a great purchase.. Kelli. US. Thu Sep 03 2026

This versatile cat gate stands 55 inches tall—significantly taller than most gates on the market—effectively preventing agile cats from jumping over and providing secure containment. This extra tall pet gate is designed well and setup is mostly straightforward. The specs on the web site claim that this gate will expand up to 42 inches wide and this is simply not true. I was only able to get this to expand as far as 40 inches, see attached photos. When you latch the doors in the center there is only so far you can adjust the left and right sides. I maximized the width and 40 inches is it. Wayfair should update the specs on their web site. Other than that the gate works as intended and I would recommend it as long as you are aware of the 40 inch wide maximum gate dimensions.. Paul. SC. Sun Oct 11 2026

I love that it has five legs for good stability and a door for convenience. Although, it was pricey, it looks good and was worth it to me!. Cindy. NC. Fri Oct 14 2022

This Extra Tall Pet Gate comes with an adjustable cat door to let cats pass freely while restricting larger dogs. The elevated frame prevents pets from jumping over, and narrow bar spacing stops small animals from squeezing through. Constructed from sturdy reinforced metal, it adopts tool-free pressure-mounted installation without drilling or damaging walls. Suitable for doorways, hallways and staircases, this sleek pet barrier matches most home styles and is ideal for multi-pet households.

I needed a gate for the bottom of our stairs, but the opening is much wider than a normal doorway, so finding one that actually fit was a struggle. This one worked perfectly! I love that the extensions allowed us to fit the entire opening without having to drill a bunch of holes (because we did NOT want to drill into the banister) or come up with some weird DIY solution. Once everything was adjusted and tightened, it feels very sturdy and secure. The gate itself is tall, the bars feel solid, and I really like the support piece at the bottom because it helps keep everything stable. The door is also a good width, so you can actually walk through comfortably instead of having to turn sideways every time. Another big plus is that it looks nice especially with our black accents throughout the house. I was worried an extra-wide gate would look huge and awkward in our living room, but the black actually looks really clean with our space. When we don't need it closed, the gate opens up enough that it doesn't feel like the stairs are permanently blocked off. Installation took a little adjusting to get the tension right across such a wide opening, but once we got it set up correctly, it was absolutely worth it. If you have an awkward or extra-wide staircase/opening and regular baby or pet gates aren't wide enough, I definitely recommend this one. Very happy with it!. Dana. Houston, TX. Tue Oct 06 2026

I installed this across my front porch. I have a Shih Tzu who thinks that when the front door is open it means she can run down the street and visit the neighbors. I needed something that could be installed easily and had a gate. This fence is perfect for this purpose. People can come and go without letting my girl out. It's been up for almost a year now and it has worked beautifully! We had to take it out when the front porch had some work done but you couldn't tell it had ever been moved. I highly recommend this product.. Paula. Nampa, ID. Fri May 29 2026

I really love this gate. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is I wish it were a little taller. My cats figured out how to jump over it (straight from the ground), so I wish it were a little taller. We added a cardboard topper as a work around.. Jordyn. New Port Richey, FL. Sat Sep 19 2026

The Cardinal Gates Step Over Pet Gate is the perfect solution for small pet containment. This freestanding gate has bar spacing's of 2.25” and is designed for small breeds, non-jumpers, and puppies. At 20" tall, this gate is the perfect height for you to step over, yet keeps your pet contained. It is adjustable and able to close off openings from 28" to 51.75”. Multiple 22” extension panels can be added to increase the maximum width of this gate (model SGX, sold separately). It features solid wood construction and is easy to set up with minimal assembly necessary. The included rubber-bottomed feet protect your floors while adding stability. This gate is intended for indoor use only and all necessary assembly hardware is included in the box, no wall mounting necessary. Available in Natural, Walnut, and White.

READ ME! I was a little stumped by the assembly of this gate, but once I figured it out (with NO help to the included instructions or video), I really do like it. Upon receipt when you unscrew the two main pieces of the gate, keep an eye out for 4 small square nuts that may fall out of the grooves. After you determine the size needed, these nuts are essential to hold the two gate pieces together. The video and instructions make it seem like you just simply fasten the screws into the grooves on top and bottom. Well, you do, but if you screw only into the grooves - without the square nuts - there is nothing to catch the screws, and thus, you will be unsuccessful. If you are luckier than me, and your nuts don't fall out of the grooves and go missing for a few days, you need to know that the nuts can be moved back and forth inside the grooves depending on the size you want. Use these nuts to secure your screws, and you'll be golden! I have two small dogs (up to 9 pounds each), and I chose this gate because it is adjustable to any size you wish, and it has feet (rather than needing to be secured to a wall). The feet can be placed along the bottom at any desired location (or you can opt not to use them at all). I chose to screw them in the bottom (but you don't need to) because it gave my gate added stability, and seeing how I plan to move the gate to other locations, this way I don't have to worry about the legs falling off during the moves. The feet have rubber pads at the bottom which help them stay in place on the hard floor. If you're looking for a gate where you wish to increase/decrease the size often to let dogs through, this isn't the gate for you as that would be a bit cumbersome with screwing/unscrewing; however, if you want a gate that sits at a certain size and can be stepped over or easily moved, this is perfect! I am 5'4" and can easily step over the gate, but my small dogs cannot get over/through it. I hope this review helps!. Theresa. Sun Prairie, WI. Fri Dec 06 2019

Very annoying to put together, instructions could definitely be clearer. Don’t forget to not cut the zip ties until it’s installed or you’re gonna have a bad time. Doesn’t feel too stable either. Katie. Minneapolis, MN. Tue Apr 28 2026
