This has been a great addition to our cats’ furniture collection! The smalleryounger cat loves to sleep on the flower on top, which is made of something like memory foam, but a bit denser. I imagine it is somewhat self-heating and also helps to hold onto the heat from the window. My largest cat loves the middle level basket. She will curl up in it for hours and has since I took it out of the box. Her sister is terrified of the entire thing and avoids even being near it. I have no idea why. I picked it because it had 3 levels, and they are always together, but it has not appealed to her yet. Pros nice height, stable base, real woodstrong construction, removable basket liner pillows Cons Can be a bit wobbly with multiple large cats - though they have tried 2 in a single basket with no problems. I thought it was nearly perfect in the design but I think one of the attributes is not ideal. The hammock in the middle is kinda low to the platform below it, making it kinda difficult for the cat the get from the platform to the left of the hammock to the next one, slightly higher on the right. I wish the hammock was a board or higher up. Other than that, it’s really good. My friend and me built it in under an hour. I got it because it’s just about 18” below the tops of my kitchen cabinets. So she can climb the tower then traverse the cabinet tops. I have been thinking about removing the hammock and replacing it with a board. We shall see. This is a quality made cat scratcher, which my cat only uses as a perch. I discovered that she does not use scratching posts (she uses the area rugs for her scratching needs). But I need to mention that the base shouldve been made larger, as it almost toppled over the first time my small cat jumped up on the perch, and it spooked her. You could maybe secure it to a wall for stability, although it doesnt come with any hardware to do that with. Or put a heavy object in the middle of the base to make it more secure. My cat has since learned to jump on the perch from the bed, which is a little bit higher than the perch. Bottom line is, unless you can make it more stable, I wouldnt recommend this scratcher if your cat is large and a zealous scratcher, or older and has trouble jumping up (thus, the danger of pulling it over on itself, like mine almost did). This is going to be a great play/rest station for the kittens at the shelter or maybe with a foster family. It's the perfect size for kittens, is absolutely sturdy, and is well designed & strongly built. My 12lb boy jumped on it immediately and gave the scratching posts and jingle toy a good workout. :) I don't think it would be great for adults unless they're small - maybe under 8 lbs? The posts and beds would be OK, but I would worry that a heavy cat would weigh-down the hammock. I could be wrong, but I don't see it supporting much weight without a brace. There are only two things I'll say that could be negative: it's slightly spendy for this size of fabric-covered tree, and I don't see the thin velveteen fabric on the top bed and side step lasting long. I'll recommend that the shelter staff cover them with small blankets. It was easy to put together with everything included, even the key and an extra bolt. I'm happy with this purchase. :). Carole. Some of the pieces don’t seem like they were measured well (e.g. the floor on the bottom is about an inch too big and doesn’t fit). The configuration is also a bit awkward.
