The chair seats are very comfortable as is and even more so with cushions -- the seats accommodate my existing cushions. The chair backs are a bit more upright than I had hoped, but they will be perfect for dining. If you are seeking chairs for reading / lounging, you might want something with a bit more slant or recline to the back. We are very happy because we got this on a good sale. However, if we had paid full price we would not have been so happy. All of the chairs are slightly different with differing back height. There were some very rough areas on the table that we had to sand. The chairs came assembled (yeah! ) but the table needed some putting together with just a drawing. We figured it out after a lot of head scratching. It is a beautiful set but by no means perfect.. Kate. Morris Plains, NJ. Sun Dec 27 2020
