During the pandemic, movies were one of Clarence Mallari's sources for inspiration: "I became fascinated with the shape and function of a lifebuoy and wondered how I could translate it into lighting. It took me some time to come out with the design due to the fact that it was challenging to conceive and arduous to make." The frame on the Portmeirion Large Chandelier is made of wrought iron around which abaca rope has been wrapped for the nautical feel that inspired it. This large version of the Portmeirion has 12 lights, while the smaller version has six lights, both of which are suspended on an aircraft cable to make the fixtures seem like they are floating in the sea. Adjustable from 23" to 129" with use of included chain/rod kit/cable. If your space calls for a longer drop, additional chain/rods/cable is available for purchase.

The Verre de Mer Small Chandelier features a cascading shade made from sand-blasted glass, hand-cut from recycled bottles to evoke the look and texture of seaglass. When I saw this I snagged it up immediately. It will go great above a tiki bar we’re planning to build. Some of the ropes are secured with hot glue which has already come loose. Not a huge deal as it won’t impact the way they sit, although there is a lot of hot glue “strings” you might need to clean off the fixture. Very cool for a theme bar or piece. It has a lot of hang to it and it doesn’t appear to be adjustable. So check the dimensions and it will need to be in a high ceiling OR some time and care taken to modify hanging height.. Jeannie.
