As a household of one person, I thought I would struggle to find uses for a slow cooker this large when I mostly use a 2.5 qt. Turns out it’s perfect to make soup so I can portion out to share and stock up my freezer. Next up will be pork bbq using a big pork shoulder to cook for 10 hours before shredding. This is the first time using digital controls which are very easy to use as shown on my video. The best feature is that it automatically switches to the warm setting after the amount of hours has been completed. I have other Hamilton Beach slow cookers of various sizes that are used regularly and this new design is beautiful, also love how the base is raised off of the counter more than previous models so it doesn’t get as hot where it is sitting. The controls are very simple to set and know which setting you are on and at throughout the cooking time because of the white light. Clean up is a breeze as the lid and cooking crock are both able to go in the dishwasher but also clean up well after a little soaking and scrubbing, the heating element wipes down great too (once it has cooled down) and keeps it looking new. The cooking seemed very even, no hot spots and didn’t seem to run too hot or not hot enough. It’s incredibly convenient to be able to use the program to set the temperature and time knowing our dish will be kept warm when it’s done cooking. Perhaps because it’s a new model, but the high setting seems to be quite a bit warmer than our previous slow cooker. The power cord is just over two feet long and is a tad too short in our usual spot. However, if you have counter space near an outlet, that shouldn’t be an issue for you.
