The braiser itself if great, but why not pack it better I had both original and replacement items damaged the exact same way a lid rim was scratched against the base part of the pan. Adding some more of cardboard would solve the problem.. Anonymous. Sat Mar 14 2026

LeCreuset never disappoints, I love this oval bread oven, I have a round one and when this shape became available, I did not hesitate. I have used other brand enameled cast iron or ceramic pots to bake bread, none come close to the LeCreuset in quality and consistency of the finished loaf. Putting the loaf on a shallower portion of the unit as opposed to into a deep pot is easier and when removing the top for the final portion of the bake more of the loaf is exposed so there is a more consistent crust.. I purchased the 5 qt size. It is very large, comfortably holds 8 boneless chicken thighs for braising flat against the bottom surface. Neither the electric heating element on my glass cooktop stove nor my PIC Inversion Cooktop are able to heat the outer edge of this pan because of its very large diameter. If using electric or PIC Inversion Cooktop, perhaps consider purchasing the 3.5 quart or smaller for best heat distribution while cooking. Clean up was easy in warm soapy water.
