Touch controls are reasonably sensitive and respond without unwanted changes. Unfortunately the outside of the ceramic insert arrived scratched, the packaging was sufficient so I can only assume it occurred before it was boxed up. Does not affect functionality but took away from the sense of newness for the appliance. I did read the instructions and found it completely unreasonable that the insert is listed as top rack dishwasher safe. It does a pretty good job. Things to know 1 it does smoke up the house a little. I use it under my exhaust fan. 2 do not over load the wood. To much smoke is nasty.
