I have extremely hungry deer who are not picky unfortunately! The only truly effective measure is to wrap my precious trees and plants! Thank God there are some they dislike! I am not always home to sprinkle powder or spray deer repellent which are both effective. I bought ultrasonic lights were effective at first then the deer ignored them. The skunks did not appreciate my efforts though so I had to stop using! I avoided mesh because obvious reasons but it's the only sure proof method for me. This is the second type of mesh I've used. The first was more nylon type material and was a bit challenging to work with but super flexible. I wanted this type again but was unavailable so I went with a different one. This second mesh is stiffer and more of a wire consistency but cuts easily with scissors. I would say it is more for use with stakes. The major problem I had was wrapping things too tightly so be aware it's so easy to do and then it must be loosened. they are sturdy once you have the dirt in them, but seem a bit flimsy when empty. Be careful filling them, as I had my neighbor help me fill with his john deer and we had to go very slowly and level the dirt in layers so it didnt warp the shape. I filled them half way with sticks, old logs and leaves from the fall and then layered with top soil. They take a ton of material to fill! Very sturdy now though.. Rachael Marne. Great Falls, MT. I'd give this a 4.5 stars if that were an option. The only real issue was that not all of the tongue and groove boards went together smoothly. I had to do some adjustments to make everything fit. Other than that, once it was filled with dirt, it appears to be sturdy and will work just perfectly for my garden. I love the depth of this. So many raised beds are shallow.
