For the most part this pergola is everything I could have hoped for. Absolutely in love with the look and feel of our patio after installing this. One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! The 12x20 pergola I ordered is close to 1000 pounds shipping in 7 boxes so the heaviest single box is about 150 lbs so two people are needed to move it around. The instructions recommended 4 people for the install. I had my brother to help but due to the weight I wanted 6 people (one at each post) to move the assembled product to minimize damage to the frame. High quality parts all around but because it’s all aluminum that is great for lower weight but it is still 1/2 ton of weight that needs to be moved around during an installation. ​Great pergola and easy assembly, but with a couple of issues ​We really like this pergola, and the whole family is thoroughly enjoying the shade it provides on our deck. It was quite easy to assemble (we only needed two people for the posts and main beams) and I was able to do the rest by myself. ​However, there are a couple of things worth pointing out. As shown in the photos, some of the holes on the beams were not pre-drilled, which made installation a bit more difficult. Additionally, the hook used to move the louvers arrived with rust spots and a poor finish, which is disappointing for a brand-new item. It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The instructions are a little confusing in some parts because the pictures are tiny. And after I sliced my finger pretty good on the metal roof, I understood why they give you gloves. Razor sharp. Took two professionals 11 hands-on hours to complete. Instructions claiming it takes 3 hours is a said joke - takes 2 hours just to unpack all the parts and peel plastic coating off the roof panels. Maybe there’s a better way to design it or preassemble some so it doesn’t all fall on the customer. Bigger issue I have is that there are no covers for the hardware at the feet - pretty ugly. I ordered two of these and placed them sideways so that I could have a 16 wide and 24 feet long covered area. It definitely took four people about four hours to put up the first one but second one went a lot smoother after figuring out all the louvers. I’ve had it up for about a month so far with some pretty strong winds and so far so good. We did have a decent rain and it kept everything dry when I closed the louvers but then we had a torrential rain and it was just way too much for the small areas to hold so it definitely leaked in a few spots. Overall, I’m very happy with the product. I got some lights and used some stick on hooks and it created an amazing outside area. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments.. Lori Spaulding. FL.
