Base is firm and solid and the cushion is so comfy as are all of the pillows which are memory foam I believe. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to relax when reading or watching TV. Such a beautiful and comfy chair! It has a Velcro light strip along the bottom which change colors via a remote. It’s incredible cost and cozy. Two people can comfortably sit in the oversized seat and it’s so nice to be able to stretch your legs out comfortably when watching tv. It came in multiple boxes but was assembled in about 20 minutes. It involved attaching the arms and back and putting the feet on. Easy peasy. This couch is very comfortable and attractive. It was also fairly easy to convert into the bed option. AND the bed is surprisingly comfortable. Not always the case with a convertible beds.
