This Murphy Bed comes in several heavy boxes with a lot of pieces. So it's definitely my recommendation to hire a professional to put it together to save you time and to ensure the product is assembled properly with anchoring to the wall for security. I must say it came together beautifully and will fit our needs for additional modern style storage and sleep space when we have overnight guests. The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. The final product fits great in our guest room/office! It took 3 days to build with 2 people (we definitely had to call in a 3rd for when we had to connect the 2 main pieces together). This could have taken a shorter time to build if the instruction booklet was a lot more explicit and if the parts were better labeled. Also, we had to open all 4 boxes to find the parts we needed for each step of the process - this was a major obstacle because of space constraints (the whole reason why we needed a Murphy Bed was because the room was small). The product description is not explicit on the mattress thickness - in the installation manual it says 8" max, but I got a 9.5" thick mattress and it still works. It was worth it because we got it on sale, but I wish there were pre-installation instructions so we could have been better prepared (i.e. I wish we knew to get better/longer hex keys, screwdrivers or drill bits that can fit into tight corners, the correct hardware for bracketing this to the wall, clamps and levels, etc.).. This bed is not constructed of real wood as it states in the description. It is a fiberboard product. I paid extra for this bed because it said it was made from real wood. I was very dissatisfied to learn its fiberboard. I do not trust its durability with daily use as I intend to use it. I purchased the warranty to be on the safe side. Had some initial issues upon receipt of this Murphy Bed Desk in that the manufacturer wasn’t the same as what was on the website or my order however once the issue was satisfactorily resolved and we opened the boxes, the furniture was outstanding! Great quality with explicit instructions included enabling my husband to easily put the desk/bed together. It will be used in my exercise room as extra sleeping space for an overflow of house guests! Unfortunately the build quality and design isn’t effective. The rails and tracks that allow the bed to rotate from a desk to a bed are too weak to hold the weight of the structure. Causing the rails to come apart. I reached out to Wayfair who quickly provided replacement parts, but those parts failed as well. Looks like a design flaw. Too bad because it looked like a cool bed.
